875p Motherboard?

I think I've narrowed it down to the Abit IC7 G or the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP non Ultra. What one should I get? I can't find very many reviews, but from what I've seen, they're pretty close. I do want it to work with my Corsair TwinX1024-3200LLPT at SPD speeds.
Mostly used for extreme gaming.

IC7-G for a few reasons: less expensive, no annoying DPS, Abit boards are great for OCing, comes with round cables and SATA adapter, and board layout is much nicer.

I am kinda in the same boat trying to decide which one to get. Both seem to be pretty rock solid. Hardcop has shown stable FSB overclock of the Abit to 1100(4x275) and I think 1200(4x300), however I think this was only done with special memory modules tested at really high speeds. Anand said that for the 8KNXP, 960(4x240) was the highest reliable setting that they achieved. This could be due to an early bios, early release CPU and other things. From what I have seen both are pretty similar save that the Abit has a 4 phase power and 4 dimm slots and the Gigabyte has a 6 phase and 6 dimm slots. From what I have read, both seem to have the same general overclocking potential. The DPS2 in the Gigabyte may help alittle in that area though. When it gets right down to it, what is packaged with them, and Anands review of the Abit will determine what I get, but Iam more leaning towards the Gigabyte due to the stellar review and neat DPS2 thingy.

I personally don't agree that the layout is any better than the 8KNXP. The Gigabyte even looks to have more space for various HSFs. There is nothing annoyign about DPS, it is likely it will help in OCing. The round cables and SATA adapter is pretty darn nice though. Like I said above, I am going to wait for Anands review before I make any decision.

People have been able to install any heatsink without issue, including the SLK-900, which is probably the largest available.

About the DPS, in Gigabyes Granite Bay and SiS655 boards, it was failing a lot. People had to stop using it because of problems being created by it.

8KNXP is up. Technically they are testing the 8KNXP Ultra, but they are the same save the non-Ultra has no SCSI and Firewire, where as the Ultra has the SCSI but no firewire. Not sure when the Abit review will be up. It is kind od that it is not up yet.

That is interesting. Maybe the DPS2 is different. I am not getting anything until the May 21st price drop anyway, so I have some time to see if anything comes up. I am pretty torn about which one I want to get myself.

Oh, dual bios is another cool feature of the 8KNXP.

Update: The DPS problem seems to have been a bios issue that was resolved.

I am torn between the Abit IC7-G, the Asus P4C800 Deluxe, and the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP, but am leaning towards the Abit, due to the excellent reviews out there (http://www.hothardware.com/hh_files/Motherboards/abitic7g_asusp4c800.shtml, for one).

I don't think the MoBos will drop on the 21st, but CPUs may/will a little bit, so I'll make my buy soon.

Can't wait to see what Black Hawk Down and Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield will look like on a 3G P4C, with 1024 PC3500 Corsair RAM, a Prophet ATi 9800 Pro, and a pair of Barracudas in SATA/150 Raid0. Should be a dream come true. The whole thing will be cooled by Asatek Waterchill and OC'ed a damn lot.

My new case that I am putting my new Canterwood system is gona have 4 cases fans, a PSU with 2 fans, a dual harddrive fan kit, along with the northbridge, cpu, and gpu fans. I usually use either headphones or my Cambridge soundworks system so it shouldn't be too noticably loud.
