I was waiting to purchase a notebook until at least the 8700m came out. I am probably going to buy it in a couple weeks.

I hear that the next gen of cards will be available for desktops maybe in a few months but how long does it take for them to hit notebooks, like a year?

At least a year... Even the mobile cards that just came out now are just the the low and midrange ones. If you want the fastest mobile card, you can't even get it in the next generation yet. You would have to get a DX9 7950GTX or what not... There is no word when the mobile 8800's are coming out either... So, like... You could wait a few months and I am guessing there will be an 8800 out, but I doubt it will be much more powerful anyway. The power these things require is getting out of hand and is slowing down mobile GPU industry, IMO...
