8500 gt okay on a 430?

here is what have
3600 x2 socket am2
2gb (2x1024) 633 patriot memory.
8500 gt 256mb
1 sata drive
1 eide
1 dvdr

can my 430W psu handle this? I would think the vid card would require the newer ps out of any of those, and the mininum req said a 350W? I don't want to damage anything 🙂
 
I thought so... the guy at the store was telling me I should get a 600W PSU... I kept asking him why the minimum was so low if it was going to require something w/ 30% more.
