Hmm. Tried to hook up a second monitor using my R8500's DVI-to-VGA adapter-thingie. The funny thing is, it works in BIOS, and it works if I uninstall the Radeon drivers, but once everything is go in windows, there's no way I can get monitor #2 to go on. When I double click it to enable it in Display Settings, it tells me to install another graphics board. Well, obviously I'm not going to do that if my video card is supposed to be a dual-monitor one.. blargh. Anybody got any ideas? Running 98SE with a fresh install of HydraVision and the ATi CD's drivers.

Annoying thing is that I can't find any info from ATi on hooking up a second monitor. I assume this means it's supposed to be pretty much plug-and-play, and that if it doesnt work you're screwed.

Any ideas?

I think there should be something if you click the "advanced" button under the "settings" tab.

It might be your drivers, get some of the newer leaked drivers and try it. like the 6018s or 6025s.

I had the same problem.

The new "Unofficial" drivers on ATI's driverpage solves it.

ok when you goto display properties
go to settings>advance>displays tab

from there you'll see two monitor's TV and FPD

make sure they're green for your monitors on the power sign and then you can choose the way you want your dual setup

I say try the new drivers. It worked for my "powermagic 8500" card.

Even if you know how to do it, it didnt work with the "Supported" 3276 drivers. Or the 3286.

In under "displays" tab only the first monitor was enabled. All the others showed a crossed over cable. And the "power signs" were grey.

It was a bit ironic to be able to use dual monitors in DOS, but not in windows XP =)

After I installed 6025 drivers, it works perfectly.

yeah it's driver issue.. if you have 2 of the same monitor, it gets confused, I had that problem, the second I switch a different monitor on the second or primary head, it work smoothly.. dunno why. Like all the option for the second monitor is all grey out..
