8500 AIW Install Problems

I just installed an ATI 8500 AIW 128 MB card into my machine and it will no longer boot. I've tried reseating the card a couple times, but I keep getting 1 long beep and two short beeps when I boot up. I think that I have AWARD BIOS and that beep sequence is supposed to mean that there is a video problem (duh!). Anyway, here is my setup:

Abit KT7a
Athlon 1.13 Ghz
512 MB RAM
WinXP
8500 AIW
235 Watt Power Supply

I've heard of people having power supply problems with this card, but I would think that I get a little more than a blank screen if that was the issue. I tried connecting the card with both the DVI and VGA cables and neither did any better. I have a pretty recent version of the BIOS (kt764). Any suggestions? Right now I'm back on my GForce 2 until I can get this worked out.

do you have the small 4 pin power cable connected to the card? Not sure if it will help but my card has a header for it.

I believe those four pins are for connecting to the machine's internal CD-ROM Drive.
 
I spoke with ATI today and they said that they have a known issue with KR7A boards. Since I have a KT7A, he said my best shot was to increase the AGP aperture and if not to try the card in another machine. He said there was a chance the card was bad, but that it has had problems working with certain AMD chipsets. So, I have tried everything and now it is time to eBay this card (since CompUSA has such evil return policies).
 
Abit's customer support contacted me today and said the following:

"This is a known incompatibility issue between this motherboard and ATI video card. ABIT is currently working with ATI to resolve this issue. Some users reported that replacing the power supply had solved this issue."

It sounds like a new power supply is not a guarantee to fix this issue. I'm wondering how long it will take to get a fix for this issue.
