Damn you, I say. You're going to drive the poor old Congressional Medal of Honor winner into the poorhouse, when all he did was tap the accelerator a wee bit instead of the brakes, causing him to go into a 50MPH skid on an absolutely frictionless surface.

any need in that you fat bastard american? it was a comparison between so called suffering not a give me money plea you slobering turkey necked tard

I must say I've never been called "slobering (sic) turkey necked tard" before, but you get props for inventive use of language. I was merely summing up some of the ridiculousness of this thread, a lot of which you've contributed.

im sorry but when you look at your country from here, there are alot of things that put even our daftest rules/regs to shame on the stupidity ranking i just dont see the point in sueing an old man for a light car accident, looks to me like hes gonna be lynched for making a mistake, it just seems wrong to me

The control arm in a Scion tC is steel, not aluminum. Aluminum control arms are actually more desirable because it means less unsprung weight. The majority of the repair costs will be labor, not materials.

Obviously the old man was at fault. Based on the pics and what I have read here, I have not questioned that for a minute. But I do now question how 2 young healthy individuals could be so hurt so bad in the same accident where an old man who could barely walk was not hurt at all.

edit: I mean relatively healthy relative to an old man who can't hardly walk.

This thread seems to have gone off-topic. How about less talk about countries, and more about cars and their collisions?

Why do you need "a couple hundred a day" for "pain and suffering?" I don't understand why you allegedly need this. What's the point?

It's a dollar amount fixed to something that lowers your quality of life.

If someone lowers my quality of life, they are paying for it.

being laid in bed rather than going to work = better quality than before to me, do you have sick pay in your state?/ country?

getting paid for not being at work coz the doc says u cant work is a good thing, but if its no work then no pay then ok, he should get money to cover missing work still doesnt need the pain and suffering drama, there are millions more people in worse off situation than him through no fault of their own. probably alot of people worse off in iraq becuase the US and UK decided to look for WMD's, i dont see our governements handing the compensation over

Laying in bed, in pain, and having to stop your life is not better.

And no, we have disability. But that is only if your disability causes you to lose your job.

well digging for more gold then,

sounds like disability sucks

but hes not going to have a reduced quality of life forever, only a few days, if it was un recoverable then i would say he has more right too.

I don't understand all the name-calling, from Lucky or anyone else. Makes all you guys seem a bit childish and takes away from the maturity of the posters.

$100 a day for compensation? How many days? The old man shouldn't be on the road in his physical state, but then again I don't know his situation. Perhaps all his family members are dead or have abandoned him. Perhaps he is poor. Have you tried getting to know this fella? Or perhaps he's a despicable old man. I don't know. But neither do you. If he doesn't have any more money to give you really shouldn't press the situation. If he turns out to be another aggressive bad driver, then by all means he should be held fully accountable.

How does your girlfriend feel about this? Is she going to try and get compensation for her injuries?

I live in Canada & it. yeah we're lucky to have the natural and environmental resources we do. So that would make it a good fusken joke? :)

Interesting thread, don't mind me - just hangin' back and enjoying.

look ok, im sorry for the name calling, especially to jvarszegi, but some of the things that go down in your country just aggravate me i really find it quite shocking that you can claim money for pain and suffering, even if it is alittle neck or back ache which means you cant work. its not the end of the world and the odds are youll be completely fine the next week

i always believed that older people deserve respect no matter what, its just built into me i would def think twice about gettin more money of this guy, it would just leave me with a guilty concience as i know he'd probably be not that well of as it is, its not worth degrading that mans life anymore over a little mistake.

i guess its simply becuase we dont have any of this almost OTT behaviour here.....yet, and all the time on the news when ever its america its either, guns, sue-ings, or the war. the media has a good way of shaping opinions. im sure everyones not out to sue everyone else, but thats the way the media portrays it im sure alot of you dont own guns, but micheal moore and the press will make you think otherwise

jus seems uncalled for to nail this guys wallet over something this small, ok lucky might have some pain, but is he in as much pain as the young boy who lost his limbs when a us missle hit his house? i think not, did he get compensated for that? and losing his parents? probably not. is he in as much pain as those dying of AIDS and starvation? probably not. hes gonna wake up tomoro in a warm bed. when there are plenty of people in the world that will probably die in their sleep on a cold dirty floor somewhere.

again sorry for the name calling

sorry for insulting your country

man i cant believe how quickly i got involved!!! i need a emergency exit button so i can be sent from ATOT to outside my room!
