OK, its up and running! 1600 benchmarks are kinda pathetic tho. temps are funny too...

room temp = 25*C
CPU idle temp = 28*C
CPU max temp = 32*C :Q L O L!

133fsb is next....

i really didnt think anyone would care what HD i use :Q
Maxtor DM+ D740X 6L040J2 40gb (ata133/7200rpm/2mb)

-----------------------
133fsb ran on default voltage - big surprise huh?
ill let you all know when this starts to get interesting 😉

140fsb is next...

yea zzzz, 1.56v is what i get when i set it to AUTO or 1.5v.
(asus boards usually overvolt) because of this i always post what my vcore is in windows. (actual)

Thugs I took it up to 170FSB but it took all of the 1.7v available to do it... temp went up to 60C, so

I'll wait till I get the Alpha to try it again....do you have to do the wire mod to get higher voltage or is

there a hack?

galtsfan ~ check your idle voltage from windows. dont use more than 1.75v!
on a p4b533 setting 1.7v usually equals 1.75-1.77v in windows.

...150fsb and still on default voltage.

155fsb is next....

this is where it gets interesting folks 😉
my "other" 1.6A (a 3/19/02) can run these benchmarks on default voltage.....

Sorry...too lazy to type my own...thanks Thugsrook

man...I don't want to take out my Volcano again...I am just going to bench everything from 1.700v...taking out that piece of $hit is a pain...and then reapplying AC3...and putting that tiny wire in takes some skills when you don't have perfect vision

my 1.6a chip from malaysia says its max cpu speed is 2400 mhz in Asus Probe. Can it go higher. I am runnin a Volcano 7+ wit AS3. thanks for any help.

SupermanCK ~ nothing like the old P3 slot1 days eh? ...swap a cpu in less than 30 seconds!

be careful not to rip the cpu out of the socket when removing the heatsink :Q
"twist" it a few times to make sure its free from the cpu - youll see what i mean.

-----------------------
....155fsb and still on default voltage 😀

160fsb is next.....

woohoo! so far so good!
only 1 more hurdle - in order to "beat" my old 1.6A i need to run 160fsb on 1.6v or less :Q
impossible?

....160fsb needed only 1.6v to complete the benchmarks 😀

166fsb is next.....

woohoo! this a better chip than my old one so far 🙂 (by .025v)
lets see how she does @ 166.
