80mm to 120mm adapter

Has anyone tried using an 80mm to 120mm adapter on an alpha pal8045 or swiftech mcx462? I just bought an mcx462 which should arrive tommorow, but I want to either buy or make an 80mm to 120mm adapter so I can put a 130cfm fan on it but I don't know if it will fit on my heatsink/mobo/case. I have an enlight 7237 with a soyo draon+ and I have measured aproximately 2 and 3/8 inches from the center of the cpu core to the bottom the of the powersupply. That translates to rougly half a hair more than 60mm, which would be perfect in theory, but just wanted to know if anyone has had any similar experience? I don't wanna shell out the 20 bucks shipped for an adapter and have it not fit.
