80mm Panaflo fan not doing ANYTHING!

a month ago I ordered 2 Panaflos from bgmicro, and swapped one into the PSU. i used the spare fan as en exhaust because its port sat near the HSF.

To hook up the case fan, I used a 3pin to 4pin wire. I just clipped one of the panaflow 2-pin leg and it clipped on fine.

Anyways, lately, I've noticed that the exhaust fan isn't doing much. I couldn't feel it push or pulling any air at all! If I placed my hand behind the panaflow in the PSU, I could feel tons of warm air come out. However, I had a hard time feeling the exhaust fan. It was barely able to move a thin ply of toilet paper.

Since all of BG Micro's wares are USED, maybe this one's defective and, consequently, running slower than normal? Too bad it doesn't have rpm wire or whatever....

btw they are BOTH the 24cfm/21db type... 1la or whatever

is there a way i can feed more power to them and make them spin faster?

It sound to me like they are connected to the 5V line (the RED wire in a standard 4-pin Hard disk PSU plug), if they are barely turning at all.. Make sure that the powerlead is connected to the Yellow 12V one

Other than that, I have an AddA which was supposedly rated similar (came as standard as an exhaust fan in my Lian Li case) and I replaced it because it moved so little air, I would have expected the Pan to be better as the AddA is utter rubbish..

DOH! I guess you are right... but since my adapter thing is for 5v... it only fits one way. guess ill have to jimmy-rhig it tomrrow
