Is that True?

Yes and no.
You can disable rpm monitoring in bios. Since my favorite cpu fan doesn't have rpm monitoring I always disable it, but set a temperature shutdown threshold of 60C.

Thermaltake Silent Cat fans are great. Performance is excellent and they are very quiet. Buy a 90mm one - they come with a 80-90mm fan adapter. You can get them at Durectron or PCToyland for around $6. 52 cfm at 21 decibels, boy!

But what if RPM Monitoring option is not available in BIOS

Then you prolly don't need RPM support from the fan for your board, see if you can post without your CPU fan connected.

Thermaltake sucks, they are notorious for lying about their specs.

Have you ever used one of their Silent Cat's?
No I haven't and I don't have to either. Sombody else posted about them Here.

Here are the specs for the 92mm version from Thermaltake....

2500 +/- 20% rpm
Max air flow 52.24 cfm
Noise 21 dBA (!!!)

Those numbers are not possible, Thermaltake is lying to you.
