Haven't seen a cheap case fan thread in awhile so I thought now might be a good time. It's not as good as a Newegg deal that was a buck apiece shipped free if you bought 15 but this is still not a bad deal. I was only thinking of this because I am using the last of those 15 I bought from a thread posted here.

I bought these mascool fans probably 3-4 months ago. Great fans, moves a lot of air and very quiet for its size.
 
I also picked up half a dozen of these awhile ago. Somewhat loud, but very good for the price. I ended up using them in some of my server boxes that I keep in a closet, so the noise doesn't bug me.
 
thanks, the last 100 that i picked up from nexfan ran out about a month ago, and all I had left were some with lights, which pissed me off. If for 50 of these. Awesome.
 
Got these last time a deal was posted about them. As others have said, really good fans, especially for the price. I have done the 5 Volt mod on all of them, and they are silent and put out a decent amount of air.
 
So the Unicoms are quieter than the Mascools?

If Newegg's stat's are correct, is the slightly quieter or the slightly more air flow fan the better of the two?

will they start up at 5v? the ones i have will run at 5v but i have to start them at 12v then once they are going switch down to 5v

Yes, all 10 of mine run just fine at 5V. I don't have any switch or controller on them (I modded the connector) so they always run at 5V.
