80GB Seagate HD for $85

that's an excellent deal... I paid $118 for the drive two months ago and thought that was a great deal.

This deal may unfortunately be dead -- the updated rebate form on TigerDirect's web site does not list Dell as participating dealer. 🙁 Now it looks like $99 from TigerDirect is the best deal for this drive.
 
I just got in on this deal about 2 seconds before you guys posted the new rebate form, so now I'm thinking about canceling. The rebate form on the hotdeals webpage doesn't have the updated info. If I send in that one should this still work??? If not I think I'm gonna cancel
 
Hmmmmm. There seems to be a couple of different copies of the rebate coupon. The one says: " Drives must be purchased through: Fry's, Buy.Com, CDW, COMPUTERS4SURE (4sure.com), Global Computer, Insight Direct, Megahaus, Microwarehouse, Outpost.com, PC Connection or Tiger Direct." The other has no such restrictions on where the drive is purchased. So I guess the deal is still alive.

FYI, I just called the number listed on the rebate form to find out whether the place of purchase was actually restricted or not. Unfortunately the rebate is so new that the rebate center has no information on it yet. So I'm going to try back in a few days.
 
Honestly though, the original rebate form supplied didn't have a vendor requirement. I'm sure this can be brought up to Seagate if you've already placed your order (I have with Dell).
 
Can't locate the 80 gig Seagate on Dell anywhere. A search brings up the 40 and 60 gig models, but no 80. Wonder if they sold out and pulled it from their site.
