80GB 5400RPM $150 + tax shiped

At your favorite Staples.com, buy this 80GB drive @ $179.99, and reduce by $30 with your favorite coupon. Cheapest pricewatch is $154 plus $14.95 shipping, and you get an OEM drive with shaky warranty. Staples gives you the retail, red box.

Yes, there are 7200 RPM 80GB drives out there ($195 plus shipping), but if space is all you need, e.g. for movies which cannot play faster from a faster disk, this takes the ribbon.

<<movies which cannot play faster from a faster disk>>

I think people know this. What they do complain about is how fast that movie will load and how fast other applications/files will load from a 5400 rpm hard drive.

5400 rpm hdd are slow, but this is really a hot deal. There was a 5400rpm 40gig hdd at staples like a week ago for $75. This works on the same ratio, so it's a really good find. Thanks, JesseKnows.

If there is a $40 off $200 coupon, buy a $20 software like flight simulator, to get it $140+tax. But still not very hot to me.

I'd rather go for a 5400rpm for mp3/movie storage

unless you're actually encoding/ripping videos, you dont really need the 7200rpm as it only beats the 5400rpm in large file copies/writes

anyone find a PM on a 60/80 gig 5400rpm at staples?
with coupon we should be able to get it down around $100

Why not buy two or four and stripe them?

That, in my opinion is ideal. Great performance, lots of storage space movies, etc., and very quiet drives, which is always a plus for entertainment systems.

I found the maxtor 60gb 5400rpm for $112 on pricewatch here

Shipping, $12.95

(it doesn't say that they're OEM on the site anywhere)

pm that to staples.com, so you're at $ 124.95 find $26 worth of software w/ rebate(free)
use $30 off $150

so thats $95 for the 60gb 5400rpm

anyone know of software $26 or more thats free after rebate@ staples?
