Well, unfortunately the Netgear A6210 suffers from data corruption that becomes apparent when trying to download large files (it could happen with any file, but the odds of it affecting the download are greater with large files).
It's apparently a fairly widespread problem:

I tried the solutions suggested but it was still unusable.

So now I'm back on the Asus PCE-AC68, this time with the 6.30.223.228 driver from 2014-02-06, which is the old driver that was reported to not cause BSODs. Done a bit of stress testing (torrents, local file transfers) with no BSODs so far, but we shall see. I'm definitely not buying a fourth Wi-Fi adapter, that would be too ridiculous.
