I'm not a big fan of the RX-8, in fact I'd say I don't like it at all, except I saw this car:
rx8-fair.jpg

and thought it looked pretty nice. Don't know what specs it had, but, took the pic just because I could.

That and the Triple Rotor engine from that auction, well, I could be happy zoom zoom zooming around town in it (- the decals)

how can they make it 3 rotor?

i mean its a cast block so where do you put all the extra stuff?

Its actually modular. You just add cylinders as you need.
Cylinders?

Ok, there not cylinders per se. To be honest, I dont know WHAT you call the chamber for the rotor.
Anyways, go to here then click to enter, then click engines on the left hand menu and scroll to the bottom of the page to get an idea of how there modular.
"Rotor housings". :p

Anyway, the middle picture at the bottom of that page shows the motor in partial buildup. That's the way they're assembled - layer by layer, although it is entirely possible with money and time to add on extra housings, grind a crankshaft to the new required number of lobes and dimensions, program the electronics, etc.

is it just me or is that WAY overpriced? and the reserve ain't even met.

You find me another *3* rotor RX car that looks that nice and puts down that kinda HP

I say it's well justified

Ummm, about any 3rd gen can easily be made that way. Even the 2 rotors can get up around that high of HP as well. And the 3rd Gens look better in my opinion. I'd get a 3rd Gen Banzai Edition if it were me.

*easily* made that way? Define "easily"

I know 2 Rotor motors can do that kind of HP, I've yet to see one that lasted for a reasonable amount of time though.

i know a lot of you guys think its overpriced and might even consider yourselves somewhat knowledgable about tuning.

i looked at the specs and i think that car is underpriced. 800hp is not at all a cheap number to get at. ESPECIALLY streetable and daily drivable. I wouldnt be surprised if when they dynoed the car the rims just started spinning within the tires themselves.

just two cents from me.
