800 dpi versus 1600 dpi etc...? Help!

So, I recently purchased a Logitech MX510 mouse for really cheap, and was happy to finally have a fairly suitable gaming mouse. Yet a question comes to mind, is it worth it to have a mouse like the MX518 etc that has a dpi of 1600 or above, or will a dpi of 800 be fine for games like CSS and HL2 or UT2K4 etc. I am really confused on how an increased dpi will affect my overall experience since I am unable to try one with a game atm.

Thanks guys!
Dan

1. The MX510 and MX518 both list as having 1600 DPI.
2. It's really two 800 DPI sensors. At max, I get a 'real' DPI around 1200 (510).
3. Increased DPI can only help, as long as the mouse doesn't skip (which is part of why the 2x800 DPI is a good way to go). Lower the sensitivity in-game, and you've got smoother motion.
