800.com warning - People with the gift checks

I having been trying to use my $75 gift (from X'mas MSN promo) for the two weeks and was not able to find a decent item that is available. Almost everything is out of stock under $200. So I did some digging and called the HQ. It appears they took down the 800 number on their website and only had the HQ number so I called. They did mention there was a 800 number for customer service on their recording so I called that too. I got a nice recording saying the call center is closed.

It smells like the site is going to close down, if it does, then people with the unused gift checks are screwed.

Anyone know if I could use this check on other partner sites? Mine is expiring 2/20!

Anyone have a clue on this company?

Yep 800.com is closing. I know somebody who works there and they just got there notice. It appears a big backer pulled out and screwed the company over. It was pretty much unexpected. So get in and get what you can get while you can.
 
I placed an order on Saturday as soon as I heard they were going down. I had a $50 Gift Certificate. I ordered abunch of batteries and a camera case. Two days later they send me an e-mail saying the camera case is not available. I need to find something for $30 now!
 
I used my 800.com $50 GC on Monday night. It took a while to actually find something useful that was actually in stock. II ended up buying a digital camera bag and a 64MB Smartmedia card. I just got en email saying the items shipped.
