This is a retail drive with ribbon cable, screw, rails, and 3yr warranty. These drives are silent, and therefore great for upgrading TiVo units, and the price is definitely very good.

It's a good deal I would say. This drive is actually fast and &quot;almost&quot; comparable to 7200 drive. I have the 40GB version of the drive. Check on past thread about this drive.

@$190, I would say this is a good deal. I needed this drive to store all my mpegs and mp3s. No need for a fastest drive.

Western Digital released 80 giger 7200rpm a while ago. www.storagereview.com highly recommends it.. And it is available for about same price as this 5400 rpmer..

I wouldn't say the WD is available at the same price. I've seen it shipped (to CA) for about $225, but not any lower than that yet. That said, I think the (approx) $25 premium is worth it. (The Maxtor is available at a lot of places for just over $200 plus shipping/tax.)

I just order one from staples, a 40gig 7200rpm for 103.90 after pricematch and 25 off 100. I think I got a pretty good deal. Took 3 tries to pricematch, cause staple count the price for the next day shipping.

I don't think they will pm with newegg cuz the one newegg sells is an oem drive... someone let me know if they can get it to work.
