Dont know if this has been posted. 199 at BB with a 75 dollar rebate takes it down to 125, price match the 199 with gogglegear at 151.99 will give you an additional $48 dollars off using AMEX price guarantee. Bring the grand total down to 77. Of course you gatta pay tax on $200 dollars. Is it possible to use AMEX to PM BB with googlegear.com?
$199
-$74 PM
-$75 rebate
=$50 + tax!"

KK

I think you can update the initial thread and title. the PM is less, the total price is more.

<< CS told me the extra 10% of the difference is given only if you have already bought the product from BB and then you find it cheaper elsewhere. If you price-match at the orginal time of purchase, then they won't give you the extra 10%. >>

They make up a new rule every minute >>

<< It's not a new rule. Having worked at BB before, the PM policy has always been, match if you buy then, or 110% if you bought there already and come back later stating somewhere else has it cheaper. It's in the fine print and most stores PM is like that. The thing is, most CSRs are dopes so a lot of people can get away with 110% to begin with. >>

You may have worked there, but that makes no sense and isn't what happend when I bought my drives. It makes no difference whethor or not BB adjusts the price before or after I buy the drive because either way they have to give me 10% of the difference in the pricematch.

Scenero 1: I buy the drives at BB. I find the cheaper price at CC, then I come back and get pricematch + 10% of difference.

Scenero 2: I prove there is a lower price available for the same thing, they give me the price match + 10% of the difference so NONE OF US have to go through scenero 1.

You get 10% of the difference if you buy the drives first or not because you can simply return the drives and buy them over again. That makes no sense for BB to make a customer do that, and they don't! If you get flack ever about pricematching then explain this to the employee handling your sale. If they still don't get it, get the manager to explain that to them.

I see your point and I totally agree, it makes no sense. Even when I worked there I thought it was screwy. It all comes down to technical points, which is why I believe that some CSRs may just be giving in. Others you may have to argue about it.

And to keep this on topic, as an FYI, the Security store in Maryland is unfortunately OOS.

I got the yellow "main" receipt and a rebate receipt for each drive. This is a WD rebate program for BB. I have talked with the rebate people at BB and at WD (even have a case number ;)) and both said "One rebate per drive. Only one rebate per envelope. No limitation on how many rebates one person receives."

Nobody (csr's or rebate people) mentioned a problem with doing a PM. It is not mentioned on any of the receipts either (yellow or rebate). Why would you think this is a problem?

I'm new at this and it seemed too good to be true (until I tried it). It was easy and the BB in my area had a stack of at least 15 of these on the shelf. I got in on the second to last day and was expecting them to be sold out. I didn't get the extra 10% but I'm not complaining. Maybe I should go back tomorrow and buy some more...

I dunno, but either the rebate slip and receipt didn't print out for me, or those customer service guys decided not to give me the slips(I wasn't paying enough attention). I looked online at bestbuy.com for the actual rebate form so I could print it out and called the 888 number on there and spoke to a person. I asked about pricematching and she said that I wouldn't get the rebate. Neither the yellow receipt or rebate form online say anything about pricematched products being ineligible, but since this is 75 bucks, I'm not sure I wanna chance it knowing that the person said I was ineligible. Has anyone gotten rebates back for any other pricematched items by sending in receipts that say "with match competitor price" or with that big yellow main receipt?

Ahhh, it would seem I called the "Best Buy Rebate Center" and not the "Western Digital Rebate Center." I didn't notice both 888 numbers on the form. Maybe I could get a different answer from the person from there...

Just got this drive this evening in NJ. Showed a CC shelf tag to the cashier, who called over some sub-supervisor level idiot who said they couldn't match it because it wasn't a printed ad. I then walked over to the service desk where I showed the drive and tag to a brand new employee. Before he even had time to answer me, the girl working behind him came over and said "Circuit City, right? Go ahead and do it." (situation very reminicent of the philips 8x burner pricematch). She then goes and instructs him on how to do the pricematch, including the extra 10% off. As the new employee prints everything, he then goes, "OK here is your rebate forum and receipt." I coldn't have planned this better if I scripted it.

Anyway, in response to your question, BB gladly and rapidly sent my rebate for the Philips drive after a pricematch, so I don't see why it would be a problem here. I think I even postmarked it a day late or so. I just got a BB rebate for the MAG 19" monitor which came in less than 3 weeks, so I have no complains about their rebate service right now.

So they really shouldn't have a problem with a photocopy of my big yellow receipt and a printout of the online rebate form right? I sure hope the WD Rebate people give me a better answer than the BB Rebate Center.

I got the rebate receipt for each drive and it has the following lines for each drive:

4179695 WD800BBRTL 149.98
80GB 7200RPM ATA 100
REG 199.99 WITH MATCH COMPETITOR PRICE

Those 3 lines are repeated for each drive. I did not have to send in the Yellow receipt cause I had the rebate receipts.

I'm calling both rebate centers first thing in the morning! :disgust::disgust::eek::(
I am SOOOO screwed if this does not work!

Bah, I called the WD Rebate Center, the person wouldn't give me a guarantee whether or not they'd honor my rebate.

AsianriceX, I am not sure who you talked with but I have received the opposite information.

I talked to the WD rebate center and the lady said: "It would not matter if you paid $1 for the drive, you still get the rebate. The price you pay for the product does not effect your ability to get a rebate."

Next I talked to the BB rebate center and again the lady said: "Doing a PM does not effect your rebate." I got this info before telling her what WD said.

With both representatives I gave them the following scenario:
I bought 12 drives for $1 after privematch. I have all rebates coming to me. And I sent each rebate in a separate envelope. Will I receive 12 rebate checks for $75 each?
Both representatives said "YES". Again I have case numbers to back up the questions/answers.

At this point I am very satisfied that all 8 rebates will come in. Yes, I made another drive run for family/friends and got 4 more for myself.

gunf1ghter: I read the entire thread, asked questions to the BB CSRs, BB rebate center, and the WD rebate center. I told all of them what I was doing. That is all anyone can do :p

I just called in and got the same response as boa. In fact, we might have talked to the same lady. I'm satisfied it will work fine.

There are a couple of posts on buying one from BB, one from CC, using the UPC from the CC one and the reciept from the BB one and then returning the one from BB. This is a risk b/c no one seems to know if the rebate people can tell if you returned the one from BB.

Hopefully they still have some in stock when I go and take the print outs of the copied receipt and/or price tag from CC....just called my local BB, and they still had 5 in stock.....

It'll be a nice addition to my 100 gig WD. :D

I didn't work for me. They had me fill out a PM form and when the reciept and rebate printed out they wouldn't give it to me, only the hand written PM form copy. I talked to a manager but I am horrible at arguing. I'll try again later at a different BB but how can I convince them to give me the actual reciept if they refuse again?

I think you can print out the rebate form at the BB website and just make a copy of the receipt.

Well I called the BB rebate center and the guy there said I should be given the proper reciept and rebate anyway, and he told me to call customer relations to get it straightened out. I called customer relations and they sided with the guys in the store, no rebate. I also asked the rebate guy if the PM hand written reciept would get me the rebate and he told me no, I needed the cashregister printed out one. :(

Yeah, I only got the big yellow receipt too. I plan on copying that and sending in the printed out rebate form, so don't worry, we're all in the same boat.

Dudes,

That's unacceptable on BB's customer relations part. I bought 2 of these drives and the girl at the register cleared with a manager and handed me both rebate printouts. My brother bought 4 and got all 4 of the rebate printouts as well. The rebate center IS CORRECT! You should go back to the store and explain that you called the rebate center and make them give you your rebate receipts and make them call the rebate center if they have too. You don't have to stand for that! Man I hate ignorant employees.

<< If you recently purchased a product at a Best Buy store and did not receive a mail-in rebate form with your purchase, please bring your receipt to your nearest Best Buy store. A Best Buy representative at the Customer Service counter will provide you with the appropriate form. >>

The above is copied from BB's policy here.

<< In-Store Purchases - If your purchase originated in a Best Buy store, you may contact Consumer Relations at 1-888-BESTBUY (1-888-237-8289) and a representative will help you obtain a receipt. >>

BB will give you the rebate forms. Nothing, let me repeat, nothing states that PM's don't allow you to receive your rebate forms.
