They'll probably mount this on a 1066FSB too.

LOL,
this artivcle was also on dailytech.it was 80 cores on 80 procs for 6400 cores.

but i bet not even all of them will catch a x6800 while dealgin with (unoptimised) x86 code.

besides i can imagine a name for something like that. its called space heater

This isn't an x86 cpu.

I remember when Cell was introduced to the world with its "9 core" CPU. Many looked for intel's anwser to Cell. Here it is. Not only quad, but 80 cores in a single die.

A chip that has can do 1 TERA flops.

Simply amazing. (note that those cores are really simple compared to its counterparts)

So you consider FPU vaporware that hasnt even been shown working in public an answer to a product that will power the first teraflop cluster in 2 years time? I'll leave it to you to figure out which is what. :disgust:

😕

When cell was shown to the world, it was on the wafer itself.. Same as what intel is doing now. How can you call it a vaporware, when it was shown in 2006 IDF? and WHY would intel show something that doesnt work? (Its highly likely that the sample CPU has already been tested).

Funny how you take it so seriously. I found it amazing whether or not if it works or not (MOST probably it works) because Intel managed to produce a 80 core CPU.

Although to us normal consumers we wont be able to buy it, because A) we dont need them in the first place b) it will be expensive. This CPU isnt for us, but for other things such as to companies/corporations that demand a huge need for such multitasking ability from the CPU.

I think Intel is going overboard with core concept. It may be the next MHz war.

It seems that intel always goes for large numbers lol.... first its the ghz now its cores
Well it works for marketing

AMD will NEVER catch up to this one!

If intel did it, AMD can dot it just much better.
or don't you remember the last six or seven years, AMD ALWAYS catch up.
I have a word for you...

I feel sorry for you. You spent all those pesos on that FX chip and had to sell it for a huge loss. Id be bitter too. Viva Intel, pendejo.

Felix, that statement is just pure trolling right there your basically only insulting someone to get a rise out of them.

But carlosd is right, this is not some big technological advancement, its jsut slappign 80 weak cores together for the hell of it.

I agree. Carlos was just trolling me. Then he typed, "T R O L L". So I had to break it down for him. This isnt the first time hes trolled me, its like the 9,000th time, so we have some history. Do some research before you spout off, dude.
