Kind of weird how countries with parliaments refer to "government" as the head of the executive branch selected by parliament.

It's like if America didn't have a Speaker of the House.

It seems to be a perfect example of the failing European society. Europe is the new Third World.

ITT Somalia doesn't exist. Try no functional central government since 1991.

In this thread America doesn't exist. Totally fucked government ever since Harding left. Anarchist420 will back me up on this one.

Their system of needing majority support from multiple parties is actually a good thing. It means parties need to work together. It's the total opposite of what the US has there are only 2 parties and a simple majority means absolute unchallenged control over everything.

we had elections, 2 parties that won can not come to an agreement to form a new govt.

That doesn't mean you don't have a government. You have a fucking government, they just haven't decided who is going to take charge. God this post is so fucking stupid. Is this seriously what Europeans think of when they think "without government?"

It has positives and negatives. I would argue that the US has many mini-parties within those 2 parties that could effectively return a similar result. And a simple majority in no way means unchallenged control over everything. The US system came up judicial review whereas many parliamentary systems have parliamentary supremacy. That is control over everything.

However, I was referring more to their general state of their society. They are breaking down like some third-world country due to communal tensions. Belgium is a powder-keg for a potential genocide.

dude I live here so I guess I know a bit more about the actual situation then you. We have a caretaking govt for the moment without any power. There has not been any legislative work for 250 days now. The country is basically run by govt workers in the different departements to make sure that the country keeps runnings. I would say that this pretty much qualify being without an elected govt

btw, chill out

Classic example of why many businesses now forbid their employees from drinking beer at lunchtime.

Really? Tell that to the Democrats of 2010, don't think they got the memo.

" In any case, the protesters are not seeking to overthrow the government. There is no government to overthrow."

Now that's sneaky.

Uh, no. The United States of America with its increasing poverty, unemployment, underemployment, benefit reductions, and middle class jobs being replaced with poverty wage jobs is the new Third World.

(This destruction of the U.S. economy has been brought to you by wealthy elites, free market dogmatism, and global labor arbitrage.)

All of those are common in Europe. In addition, Europe suffers constant genocides and attempts at wide scale extermination of minority groups. They also have monarchies.

That seems quite third world. Even Nepal is more advanced than them now!

Belgium, what a silly country. They should dissolve themselves and merge with The Netherlands, France, and Germany.
