I just saw 8 Mile .. i liked it.

I'm not trying to sway anyone to see it. It seemed longer than it was, sorta dragged but i sat through it.

It is the best movie of the year, so far.

I mean look at its competition, Minority Report, uh, uh, Signs, uh uh. There hasnt been any Oscar caliber movies this year. 8 mile might just get nominated, because they have to have 5, and I really cant think that many movies that can be called oscar caliber. Now will there be many release between now and Dec 25.

Gangs of New York will get nominated, but its a POS film. Two Towers will get a nod. Minority Report will get a nod.

That gives to two slots with the following "contenders"

Catch Me if You Can
Chicago
8mile

Best movie of the year, laff ;)

It may get some awards, but I seriusly doubt it will win best movie of the year.

Road To Perdition tops is easily imo. It's a classic in my eyes.

While I never saw cool as ice, thank god, I think this movie is ten times better. Review to come in post in a few minutes.

I am a 27 year old guy. Software engineer.....saw it last night

My opinion of the movie. The movie of the year stuff has to stop now. As for best actor, maybe. But I can play myself in a movie too. If best actor refers to one that acts, Eminem shouldn't even be considered. consiering him for an oscar is like putting Micheal Jordan in a movie about hte Chicago Bulls and thinking Micheal jordan should be actor of the year. The thing is that no performances I saw this year wass that good either. This year was the year of suck for movies. The thing about the characters in this movie is that you don't care about them. The movie doesn't "pull you into the world" that the movie takes place in.

Anyways, on to my review.
The plot was actually good. The problem was the beginning had some confusing character introductions. The movie also didn't flow smoothly. It was kinda like if you were to put Pulp Fiction's events in order, something still doesn't make sense. The lighting for some scenes could have also been better as at times it was hard to understand what the hell is going on. Basically because you couldn't tell who was who at the beginning of a scene. This happened atleast once.

Also, this is a comedy. It is not a drama. If it is an attempt at a drama, it failed misserably. As for a comedy, most of it wasn't funny, but when it was funny, WOW!!!!

Not enough of this movie hit the cutting room floor. I dragged out a bit.

Wow, I confused most of you didn't I. Truth is, if you think you'll like it, you probably will and visa-versa. It's pretty much what you would expect from the previews/commercials.

This movie did have one of the best endings ever though.

Also, fiance loved it. Shes a 23 year old woman. elementary school teacher.

You are leaving out one of the best movies of the year. Big Fat Grek wedding. I saw it and there is a reason for all the hype it's getting. Big Fat Grek wedding will be taking alot of the awards home. I'm thinking best actress in that one and best movie. best comedy. Possibly a best actor too, but unlikely. Big Fat Grek wedding was simply incredible. Awesome story line. Never boring for a second. Extremely funny! Excelent acting and camera work. i'll even give it best director.

I saw the movie yesterday. Simply excellent. It's true, though, that it is slow (but not boring) until the end. The end is amazing. :Q :D I dunno if the story about his life is true or not, but he amazes me every time with his lyrics. :)

From what I've read/heard, the story mimicks his life, but is not about his life. It's not autobiographical if that's what you mean.
