8 freshman reps block Obama from recess appointments

You know, I agreed with you guys that Bush wasn't the sharpest crayon in the box but how the hell is he kicking Obama's ass in just about every political way possible? He even got Obama to continue his fucked up policies somehow.... WTF?

The difference is that Dems didn't seek to prevent Bush from governing, but rather to modify his doing so, and to prevent what they saw as his most egregious acts. Republicans are the party of No, the party that seeks to prevent Obama from governing at all, the party that's willing to destroy the full faith and credit of the govt to have their own way.

The 8 freshman reps prove my point entirely, as does their leadership for condoning it.

Uh, Nancy has nothing to do with approving appointments.

The Senate does that. Which the Dems still have.

You're forgetting that nifty little "filibuster" tool 😉

I'm sorta torn on this one. On the one side, I don't like recess appointments. They were intended to allow the president to do his job when congress was not in session. They were not intended to let the president go around the approval of congress, which is what they've been used for over the past few decades. In that sense, I like this move.

On the other side, using filibusters to prevent a full yes or no vote, then using this to prevent recess appointments seems like undermining the president and preventing him from doing what he's elected to do.

It's a classic republican move.

They block all appointments in the senate, then they block all recess appointments as well, which means large parts of the government is running without the necessarry leadership, at which point they complain about how inefficient government is ....

It works too.

This is about Tea Party congressmen doing what they said they were going to do, campaigned on doing it an ARE doing it - stopping Obama. It's what The People wanted and their actions are being largely cheered except for this hard left forum. I shared the article with work buddies and every single one of them had a fist pump and "hell yeah!" reaction.

It's awesome. Stick it to Obama, Patriots. Stop him.

So share the news with friends and family, I already called the reps offices and gave a heart felt "thank you". As far as I know they aren't getting paid to do this. True patriots, doing what is best for the country.

I doubt you would be able to maintain your incredible level of ignorance if you weren't motivated by the crowd effect of being surrounded morons of similar thinking to you. Bigotry and backwardness is a communicable social disease.
