$8 for Long Island Iced Tea, $8.50 for Jaegar Bomb

JEDI

Lifer
friends birthday. a bunch of us went to our usual happy hour place.

usually we get happy hour drinks (ie: $2 domestic beer- buds, coors, miller and $3 some imports)

but since it's his birthday we started ordering his 2 favorite drinks for him. needless to say after a few rounds he was plastered.

i was a litttle surprised by the price of the drinks. i've never ordered non happy hour priced alcohol before. thought it would be just a couple of bucks more.

but I didnt care since it was for a special occasion and a fun time was had by all

depends on size of drink and how much ice vs contents if it was a bad deal or not.

strip clubs basically give a splash of the drink.. and rest ice for same price which is unreasonable..
but that same 8.50 gives a nice topshelf drink at a normal bar or restaurant.

Yeah, was at decent place and ordered a Glenfiddich on the rocks, $8.50 for a small pour. So that sounds about right.

The markup on booze is astounding and the markup on trendy kids garbage like jaegerbombs is off the charts. The bars figure anyone stupid enough to order a jaegerbomb is stupid enough to pay whatever they charge. It works like a charm.

long islands around here are $6-7 but they are strong and do what they are made for..get you plastered.

about 17-20 years ago one of the local bars used to have specials. for $5 you got PITCHER of long island. that would fuck you up. the city forced them to stop doing it heh.

I remember $2 pitchers for draft beer, and on Monday nights, you could get a pitcher of vodka (gimlets?) - pretty much vodka & lemonade for $3. The best of the night club type places had a $5 all you can drink happy hour, that was 3 hours long. I remember trying to finish a bottle of whiskey with my friend - the bartender opened it for us & flirted with us all night. After the happy hour was over, she let us continue drinking til the bottle was gone.

That was the night I got a ride in the back of a police car. Took me to the local Mexican food place. (Acted as a taxi service for us, because we were friends with most of the police.) I remember finding tacos (wrapped up for take-out) in my coat pockets several days later.

LOL, back when I was in college, there was a bar that had $1.00 Bucket of Long Island Iced Tea Thursdays, those were the days 🙂.

Of course that was a while ago.

I had this teacher/engineeresque image of you which makes this post that much more entertaining. I wish I could forward this to your students. I bet they'd get a kick out of it =P

I'm so old I remember paying $2 a pop for those drinks and a buck for a beer at bars. $30 would gaurantee you a good time not to mention the other $20 for the Hooker and the Blow

that's standard bar fare. fortunately we usually go to this dive bar that has domestic beers for $3 or a full pitcher of draft for $14... which is pretty decent
