hey ppl,

I know most motherboards force the 8.5 multiplier (celery2 566) on the cpu regardless of what you do.

I have a Asus P3V133 and the jumpers only go up to 8.0. Will it boot up as 8.5 as the multiplier or does it not boot without the proper multiplier setting?

Thanks

DuckmanX

note: This motherboard is all jumpers, no fsb/multiplier/voltage settings in BIOS.

Modern Chipzilla CPU's dictate the multiplier to the mainboard's Bios. If the mobo's multipliers stop at x7.5, but the CPU needs x9, the CPU over-rides the Bios multiplier. Bios's multiplier is ignored by the CPU. This is perhaps the sole benefit of Intel's locked multiplier.

Thanks,

Damnit though, this motherboard is all jumpers.

Last time on my old mobo, I shoved in a cpu 3.5 mult, and tried to get it 4.0 and it didnt boot. I am just afraid this is gonna happen again, so I need a new moboard. Hopefully the 8.5 overrides all...
