This is the cheapest that I have seen, but I would LOVE to be proven wrong. (Aside from NetZero etc)

The site is http://www.getadomain.com

Catch:

The only unusual requirement at getadomain.com is that we ask that you help us tell five people about the amazingly low domain name prices. Why do we do this? To sustain the rock-bottom prices offered here we must achieve two goals. First, we need to sell a lot of domains. We have to make up in volume what we give up in margin. Second, we can't spend a lot of money advertising. Sending an announcement about this offer to your friends helps us accomplish both goals, and thus, makes it more likely that you will be able to get cheap domains for a long, long time. Of course clinton@whitehouse.gov may get a lot of announcements about this offer, we realize that. But remember this: the more good emails you give us, the more likely we can keep giving you these good prices. Finally, we will only use these email addresses for one mail, and will not sell, use or otherwise distribute them to anyone, ever.

Seems reasonable to me!

Wow, and I thought $10 at RegisterClub.com was good. Makes me think about the vast amount of drinks I could have bought if I had registered my 10 domains at this place. :) hmmm $2 x 10 = 20 drinks! Crap!

This is a little OT, but what the heck.

If I registered a domain with these folks, what's the cheapest way to make it so that I can have mail sent to me at that domain and then either have it forwarded to my mailbox or be able to pick it up from my mail program?

I'm currently using Netaddress's forwarding servic (*@usa.net) but it's very slow and often loses mail. Plus it costs $12/year.

hope you all are reading the fine prints...

www.gandi.net has registrations for 12 euros, about10.40, but you all get 1 free email forwarding, free dns parking, and YOU own the domain

With DomainZero, there are banners on your homepage, aren't there? There's no banners with getadomain.

I just paid $35 for mine for one year and I got a free year hosting at Concentric.net with my purchase of NetObjects Fusion 5.0 . That was a good enough deal to me.

If you're parking the domain with them, or letting them handle your DNS, your registar is usually listed as the technical contact (you can usually change this).

Make sure you are listed as:
  • the person regsitering the domain
  • the administrative contact
  • the billing contact (or auxilary billing conact)
