Door just shut for the flight prior to mine...dude comes running up saying hold the door...airlines says sorry.

sux for him

TSA were a bunch of tools. I understand their job, but don't take it out on us because you are hungover from malt liquor. I had small clear containers..they said because they aren't labeled 3oz or less they can't be allowed on 😕 never heard of that and the check in people said that they must of been too large then. Anyway $15 to check and I was able to get a seat upgrade.

hopefully in 5:18 I will be in Phoenix...

Midnight out flights suck more IMO. I just did Midnight from HNL to PHX to MKE... it was brutal.

I absolutely LOVE midnight out cross country flights. I sleep the whole way back to NC and arrive refreshed for the next day.

If its nonstop, sure, but the hope and the layover in the middle kills ya.

flying sucks, period... the amount of time you need to wait, the uncomfortable & cramped economy seats, the amount of time you need to wait more... I don't know how anyone can do that for work on a constant basis.

I love the drama involved in flying. I think it's because I like to over prepare, and it's definitely a situation where you HAVE to over prepare. I always get there early, buy a couple magazines, and chill out.

Yep. get there early, get a coffee somewhere and/or some food, bring my PSP and a book or magazines, or my laptop and use wifi, and just waste away the time.

I used to take those flights all the time, and on a few occasions I got hit with the same thing. I once had to fly into Vegas to drive into San Diego.

I hate travel, especially out of the ATL airport. There's nothing you can do to accommodate all the potential hurdles unless you just get there 3 hours early every time.

I'm the opposite, I HATE overnight flights. I cannot sleep on planes no matter how hard I try, so when I get here I'm frigging exhausted.

I've had no problems flying from Upper Michigan to Houston, TX (three times since fall of '07) with connecting flights in Detroit or Chicago. The worst was when my flight was delayed in TX and I almost missing my connecting flight in CHI but I was able to make it with a couple minutes to spare.

I was going to say, I'd much rather fly during my normal sleeping hours; I don't lose a day and I don't have to wake up early...but yeah if you have a layover it's terrible.

I drove to FL in 20-some-odd hours and flew back with less than 3 hours in the air. If the other option is driving, it's not as bad as it sounds. 😛

I don't mind flying. Just when a douchebag squirms into the middle seat to try to hit on the chick in the window seat.

This douchebag didn't even try to disguise it. There were still open aisle and window seats when everyone was on, but he jumps between me (aisle) and this mid 20's chick when half the plane was still empty. I didn't mind that much since I didn't give the dickwad the armrest and I didn't know if she did. But, as I was reading my book (watching topgear when we reached cruising), I promptly saw her shut him down for conversation 3 times and was laughing my ass off (at both him and top gear's test of the ford fiesta).

try drinking heavily?

Beats the hell out of driving. Sit back and let the professionals do their jobs. Be thankful you aren't having to take a covered wagon, either.

Are you still in Phoenix? We're expecting some colder weather and probably rain this weekend, oh noes!

so you are saying there was a chick worth hitting on and you were more interested in a book and a Ford Fiesta? No wonder he moved in on a flight, esp a pretty empty one. Lots of opportunites on those.

I saw first in the aisle, she slipped into window. I was ~40 on plane, her about 55, he was ~#80. Flying often enough (maybe once every two months average), I tend to be friendly and enjoy pleasant conversation on a flight. Thing is, she was talking on the phone with her "honey" as she sat down and until the douchebag came. He probably thought he was the shit and got maybe 3 words in response from her the whole flight.

While I'm complaining, non-douchebags usually don't shove themselves down in a middle seat, act all cramped and hot, fanning themselves with the magazine and calling the stewardess over because the engines haven't turned on yet and it is stuffy.

He must have enjoyed his flight, I noticed he finished the "skymall" catalog and the magazine before the plane even took off and sat next to two people who ignored him the whole time.

Same. I'd rather have a morning flight (7-9AM) as I can make it through the rest of the day fairly easily and just sleep a little extra the next day. The few times I can fall asleep on a flight, it isn't good sleep and I'll usually wake up after a few minutes.
