Not sure about Overstock or their VCA extended warrantee.

Anyone with experience, I'm thinking of picking this up. I'm looking for a cheap, portable, no frills kinda laptop, was hoping to get an AMD based laptop, but no one seems to make those...

Any advice on overstock and or their extended warrantees??

Its a refurb from overstock. i would stay away
why?

its a refurd that says factory refurb so you think it would be by IBM, but read about the defs on overstock and its their own refurb process (http://www.overstock.com/faq03_frame_recon.html)

As some ppl know overstock sold fake burberry scarves and other items for a while (tiffany braclets? i think)

just read their reviews http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1634.html

I think they speak for themselves

I always take resellerratings and bizrate with grane of salt for the simple fact that dissatisfied customers are MUCH MORE likely to tell about their experience then happy customers.

www.gottadeal.com
FWIW, we've sold several refurb laptops through GottaDeal and have not seen any returns. In fact we haven't seen any returns for any Overstock purchases in the last few months. I think they learned from their previous problems and realized that if they are going to have so many refurbished items, they better do their work and test everything before selling them.

Also, they have a $45 off $450 coupon valid through 6/30, plus free shipping through tomorrow, so you can get it for $754.90 shipped.

I know for a fact that if you look around you can find a lower price for the same laptop.

Doesn't seem that hot IMO...
I got a T23 over a year ago with the same specs + 802.11b and XP Pro for $999.
I'd be more inclined to pick up one of the Dell Inspirons for $700 these days... better value for your money IMO. :)
Cheers,
Gabe

I bought a t22 refurb from Overstock four months ago and it was beat to death. Case was cracked around the hinges, finish was rubbed off the palmrest and the keys were shiny from wear. It appeared to have been "refurbished" with canned air and Windex at most. Overstock was very nice about it and gave me a full refund with no hassles. I suppose I could've just kept exchanging them until I got a good one, but it didn't seem worth the effort.

Too bad - that was a good price on a superb notebook.

Thinkpads are more expensive, and they're worth it. I'd much rather have a good used $799 T23 than a brand new $799 Dell.
