So Gibbo is lying. Am I following? I didn't say anything about price. Corporations at OC UK which is UK's newegg are buying AMD cards in lots of 100 for mining purposes. I'm sure corporations can and do get discounts if they order in large batches like that, hence why Gibbo stated corporate accounts are buying AMD cards. Unless Gibbo is lying. Same is happening at newegg business i'm sure.

No, you're not following at all. There's something called assemblers that have huge warehouses with lots of cards. They accept orders if the amount of units is high enough, namely retailers, smaller warehouses (a trend in Europe) and the like.

And yeah, Gibbo is probably lying since they have a pathetic amount of units for each SKU. Going to OCUK and buying a batch of 100 cards is almost impossible and a company doing so the most dumb thing ever when they have at least 2 cheaper and faster options. Remember that UK is still in Europe and ordering something from other EU country isn't a big deal at all.

290s are bad for mining because they have poor cooling at the moment which causes them to overheat and forces them to throttle down the frequencies.

They would probably be OK for gaming since gaming and mining are two completely different stress levels.

Have you mined with a 290 or 290x? I can get almost 800KH/s with 900/1250MHz on each GPU, the fan set to 65% avg temps are around 64- 68C -I 20.

No, I have not, but I have heard just about everyone else complaining about getting poor results, card overheating, and GPU throttling.

anyone get anymore bad Power color refurbs? Let me know if you would like to sell it to me...better than taking a RMA hit 🙂 PM Me

I'm not sure whether I should set up my old 7950 in my old tower to mine or eBay it for 400 dollars.

use power, computer on 24/7, price may change in a few months time.

or sell while there is strong demand, and have a quite room, all while getting the "profit" from mining "now" and not in 26 months time (400/15)

Selling sounds good to me. 🙂

Days.

Some altcoins are averaging $40+ per day.

from my limited understanding of mining, it would seem the best solution would be a series of radeon 7790's rather than a couple of 290's or radeon 7970's. Since it is still the improved gcn architecture, but has much less rops, allowing it to use disproportionately less power.

my asus is hitting 787 khash, weird part is that I have another card at 700 khash and over a 10 hour period I got 50% more shares with the asus. About how many shares should a person get an hour ~700 khash?
