From what I've seen in benchies, an OC'd 7950 really flies.

I would expect it to at least be on par with an oc'd 670.

I say GTX 670. IMO its the perfect card. Simply perfect. Yes, I am biased. Yes, I am a fanboy. Yes, my GTX 670's make me play BF3 better than Radeon people.

Seems to me that reality doesn't agree with you:

OP what games do u play? Some games (BF3, Shogun 2 among others) play much better on the 670 GTX, whilst others play better on the radeon. U'll have to do the research to ensure ure good to go w/ da games u plah.

There's not much that plays better on a 670 than a 7970. Certainly not BF3.

If you want things like Nvidia's PhysX and easier ,reportedly better 3D then go with Nvidia GTX 670.

Well then go with a 7970.The Sapphire OC Boost seems like a good one.Plus you get 3 free games I think unless that offer expired on the 31 st of January last year.

Yeh i have gone with that one.

Selling my 460's the net cost is minimal especially with the free games.

Im thinking of getting a new Z77 UD3H Gigabyte mobo and a 3750k too because this upgrade is going to be so cheap.
They'll complement each other nicely, good choices.

If I'm understanding your question correctly, yes, they should be. Any coolers I've dealt with over the last year or so have included extra mounting hardware, and have all been 1155/1156/1366 compatible.

I have had this cooler since C2D and i had to get a new mount for the X58 950 i7 i got.

I take it they havnt changed since then?

7970 is definitely the better choice. Better performance in games, includes a game bundle, and is pretty good for its price. I would argue its worth getting over a 680 at a good price.

If you bought a mount specifically for your X58 (socket 1366), that mount won't fit Z77 (socket 1155).

3D blue rays and games are sweet on Nvidia hardware. Can't remember the last time I used it, but having useless features makes me happy.

PhysX is great too for the huge library of games that use it. Around 2 of the 30 PC games released last year support PhysX, so clearly it's a must-have feature if you're a real gamerz.

turns out that a 3570k wont give me any real FPS over my 4ghz 950 i7.

That sucks :(

Over a stock 3570K, no. Ivy Bridge has 15% higher IPC than Nehalem and Westmere, and your CPU is clocked 18% higher than a stock 3570K.

In gaming it doesnt really matter apparently.

Id need a solid 4.5ghz Ivybridge.
