I don't know why on earth you wouldn't bench your system with the 5870s first.
Almost EVERY time you upgrade you either:
A) Feel like the money you spent was worth it and the upgrade is VASTLY better
or
B) Feel like it wasn't even worth it.
Best to have quantitative evidence to back it up.
Only reason I haven't benched recently is because my upgrades are like every 5 years lol, or when I upgrade it's from desktop to mobile, then back to desktop, so no point comparing the two.
You can be damn well certain though, when I crossfire my 7950s, I'm certainly going to bench it before I upgrade to a new card to be sure I'm happy otherwise, back to Amazon =D.
