7950gt vs x1950xtx vs 7900gtx

Yea I just bought the x1900xt 512mb version from Newegg about an hour ago so that'll be here in a few days. Of course, I have no computer to put it in yet! But that will come soon enough. I haven't decided if I want to go with the aftermarket cooler or not. That Accelero actually has 2 strikes against it for me: 1. It voids the card's warranty, 2. It blows the hot air into the case whereas the stock cooler exhausts out a PCI slot. Unless that x1900xt is really, Really, REALLY loud and annoying, I'll probably keep its stock cooler.
 
That XFX 7950gt looks like a good deal. Maybe not the top perfromer, but quiet and you won't break the bank. Get one for 6 months then buy a DX10 card later.
 
What is the difference between the two models of these XTX's: L and SR? Besides $18 😛. I think I'm going to spend an extra $5 and get an XTX instead of an XT now.

Nevermind, I found it. The L just comes with a software bundle.
 
None? The best deals in video cards are a 7900GT overclocked or a 256 MB x1900xt , both can be had less than $250 and only perform a couple percentage point less than thier expensive top-end brothers.. I'm not sure why people buy anything else other than not wanting to tweak and like throwing good money away. GL

i actually ended up going with the eVGA 7950gt. the reason i did not go with the XFX 7950gt is because it was only 30day return with newegg, and i've had good experience with eVGA support in the past.

I'm guessing this fan will run at the same noise level, if not quieter, than my eVGA 7900gt so it passes my noise test.

I'll probably SLI these when i get another one for christmas 🙂
 
You have a 7900GT already? Why not just buy a VF900-Cu and overclock your GT? You relise these cards can perform at GTX levels right? Maximum you can get on stock volts is about 600/1800. However, if you raise the vcore to 1.4 it will make it possible to reach 650+, i.e. GTX speeds... 😕

You will not hear a VF900-Cu at 2100 rpms or less, about 3/4 power, it's silent.

i RMAd my 7900gt about 2 months ago and it was a defective model that had been discontinued so newegg gave me my $300 back.

i'm not into overclocking/vmodding
 
Ah I see.. thats cool then I think you're making a good choice.. Nice fat silent cooler on the XFX though....🙂
