7950gt output to LCD monitor DVI to HDMI problems

I'm trying to output video from my 7950GT in Windows XP to a 32" LCD.
The only input choices I have are: VGA, Component, and HDMI.

Component looks terrible, and VGA isn't much better, so I wanted to be able to use HDMI, so I bought a DVI to HDMI cable.

I get absolutely no output when I hook it up this way, even though it works on another computer of mine(a mac mini) without changing anything.

I was just wondering if this was even possible, since on the mac mini, hdmi vs. vga is a huge difference, and right now I'm not satisfied at all with the vga quality.

The 7950gt is HDCP or what not, so is that a problem? Or is it a windows setting that I'm overlooking? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am guessing it's most likely a configuration problem. It took me a while to make my radeon 9700pro to output 1920x1080 properly on my LCD TV. On the other hand, outputing from the same card to the same TV via VGA was plug and play.

Well, I think I've tried everything I can try. What do you mean it took you a while? When I plug it into my monitor, even when the computer boots up, I see nothing, and continue to see nothing. What else can I try? It's not a resolution issue, it's a I can't see anything at all issue.
Thanks for the reply though
