Thanks again for all of the help guys. I had one last question if anyone is still checking this thing out.

Say in the future (maybe 2 years) I upgrade my cpu to something that will be fairly good at that time (maybe in the ~250 range). If I get the 4850, would I be able to buy another one and go crossfire instead of buying a whole different video card, or will this card be too outdated by then for that sort of thing to be worth it?

Bang for the buck, a 4850 or some such is the way to go. But I'm going against the prevailing wisdom because you're a NVidia user. I'd look at getting a GTX 250 or a GTX 260 216 to limit the driver hassles. Heck, even a 9800 GT or 9600 GT would be a huge jump over what you currently have. I swapped out a 7800 GT for a 9600 GT on my Athlon rig and the results were very satisfactory.

In either case, this is a great time to upgrade. Really, this is a golden age for PC tinkerers.

2 years from now a 4850 will be yesterdays news and it would be silly to crossfire it at that time. even $50 cards 2 years from now will be much faster than a 4850.
