Hi there, Im torn between four models of 7950 (same price) for mi Pc (I5 750 using monitor with 1680x1050 native)

- Sapphire 7950 Boost Dual-X

- Sapphire 7950 normal Dual-X

- Sapphire 7950 Vapor-X

- Gigabyte 7950 Windforce 3

Which one would you think its the best choice?

Cheers!

No, don't go with Vapor-X. Most if not all of them are voltage locked (there are different vapor-x versions about). Also subpar VRM cooling - my card's VRM's go into the 90's at power limit +20. And I've read the Dual-X and Windforce coolers are quieter.

My Vapor-X is not stable at stock memory clocks even though the review samples can overclock the RAM by 100+MHz. I'm going to try to get my money back and buy the Gigabyte Windforce card instead.

Not true at all.

It is the 2nd time today you say that. Where are you getting this information from? It is the opposite of all the sources I have found. For example:
4900_41_sapphire_radeon_hd_7950_3gb_vapor_x_oc_with_boost_video_card_review.png

Looks pretty quiet to me. I think you might just have been unlucky.

With that CPU you won't be able to diff adequately btw a 7950 and 7970 leave alone two 7950s. Get whichever 7950 you want.

Any plans to migrate it to a new build with a more capable CPU and higher rez monitor? If not, you might as well get an HD 7870 and save the $80.

You should consider MSI and Asus as they usually have the best build quality and very few issues compared to the rest.

Someone has tried the HIS 7950 IceQ X2 Ghz Edition ? This one its also an option for me, and it may have not as problems as Sapphire...

Would be a good choice?

I didn't save the links and don't know exactly where I got the info from, or should I say impression. Take it with a grain of salt

Hard to say, this is the first time i've ever seen that card. Reviews don't always tell the whole picture... In 7950 Vapor-X reviews, there's no mention of the voltage being locked, for instance. It could be very good too. I dunno, I'd probably get Gigabyte myself

He means manual OC, and he's also forgetting that not all 7950's OC great, some cards are duds. And while many cards do OC great, it's up to the user if the extra heat and noise is worth it

No.1 thing I would do is upgrade the monitor. Would be a shame to waste a 7950 on 1680x1050. The single most dramatic impact on my gaming/PC experience was always the move to a larger, better monitor.
