Could anyone explain to me the difference between North bridge AMD 790 FX (GA-MA790FX-UD5P) and 790X (GA-MA790X-UD4P).
The difference between upper 2 mobos is 60 $ is it worth it?

Thanks for your input

Depends, if you are going crossifre its worth it, if not then its not really worth it. The 790X board is only x16, x8, the 790FX board is x16, x16.

Many thanks for the clarification really apreciate it.

If you were in my shoe which would you pick and why:
Does the Asus worth the extra money?
PS: Will not crossfire but will do little OCing for the phenom II 940 (up to 3.6/3.7)

GA-MA790X-UD4P (110$)
DFI LP DK 790FXB-M2RSH (117$)
Asus M4A79 Deluxe (190$)

Wow over my expectations, planning to go for a 3.7 or 3.8 by only changing voltage and multiplayer.

I was lost with all the possibilities/competition and price variation from 80 $ Biostar TA 790 GX to 190 $ for Asus M4A79... I think the DFI is midrange and seems very encouraging based on your experience will probably go for it.

Thanks

The DFI has the sb600 and seems to have problems with DDR2 1066MHz RAMs. The mobo has been out for well over a year. You will most likely have to update the BIOS to properly recognize a new Phenom.

The combo with the Gigabyte 790x looks spiffy if your heart is set on the 940BE. If you want to get slightly ahead of the curve take a look at the PhII 720BE / Asus 790gx AM3 combo.

No heyheybooboo, the DK 790FXB-M2RSH does indeed have the SB750. The motherboard you're referring to is the DFI LANPARTY DK 790FX-M2RS. 🙂

I bow to your greatness and humbly beg your forgiveness. As penance I shall cast myself outside during this electrical storm wielding my 9-iron as an antenna and let Karma be my guide.

I'm so confused by the 117$ - good catch on my flub
