prime95 ran for 07:04:00 til it finally got a rounding error. (170fsb 1.80v)
not bad

Jgtdragon i cant get all the 3d benchmarks outta 180fsb - 179fsb is as far as she'll go.

Very nice OC. I had been hearing about it on SF.

I figured I'd congratulate you myself on it.

I'm hoping to hit 160fsb once I get my new (samsung 512 stick) RAM.
I can boot higher but not without the 1:1 divider. I'm going to go for 400mhz, rather thanthe 375 I'm out now.

the p4s333 loses its ratios after 160fsb and i doubt yours would run that high anyways.
most p4s333s dont make it past 150fsb

the p4s533 is hitting 155-160fsb now and then.

I know they lose 'em after 160fsb though. Meaning I should be able to hit 160 with a 4:5 divider, if I'm thinking correctly.

I can get it to 155 easily, just not with the 4:5 divider yet, meaning it's my RAM that's giving the problems.

I'm ordering the Sammy stick, which should fix things.

well...mine prime95 test ran for around 16 hours with 160FSB and 1.85vcore...i know vcore is high...but temp doesn't go above 50C with highest fan setting...I doubt i will be playing games for 16 hours straight in my life...i think i will go blind before i can accomplish that

thats why i only go for a 6 hour test.
no sense in applying even more voltage to last longer than that.

CrawlingEye unforunately the SiS board dont have AGP/PCI lock. that could make it very difficult to run past 150fsb. id say jump straight to 166fsb but the board doesnt have a 1/5 PCI divider either

its a shame too cause the SiS have some very nice potential.

ive been eye'in the Abit BD7-II lately. its an i845E board and has a 3:4 ratio all the way to 200fsb. i wouldnt mind dropping a few mhz fsb to run 442DDR

thugs - the only reason why i upped my vcore all the way to 1.85 is that at the voltage it won't crash under counterstrike...
I tired 1.8..doesn't work...it would crash out to desktop in about 15 to 20 minutes...always when i am on a killing spree... don't remember why i didn't let it stay at 1.825... i guess i just wanted to have some lead room... so that's 1.85v

wow - counterstrike must be one buggy game if its harsher then prime95!

for me its quite the opposite...
Prime95 needs more voltage (extra notch) than anything else i run.
(my game is Serious Sam)

there is a confirmed cas settings problem on the p4b266 boards

over a dozen ppl have confirmed that manual cas settings in bios.... doesnt work.
even worse - its stuck @ Cas2.5/3/3/7 :|
im really hoping that a bios update fixes this.

I'm aware of this, but I like the extra bus speed.
So goes my reasoning for the P4S333, along with the fact that once I build my prescott systen (whenever it comes out), I'll have this most likely running as a server. Where the 3:5 divider will come in very handy.

The Abit sounds nice, but I'm partial to Asus, more specifically the SiS made Asus boards.

Edit: I'm getting some cooling products as well to cover the bus speeds' extra heat.
(Ultimate HDD cooler, Vantec Stealth 80mm case fan, AVC Sunflower, etc)

I don't care to hit 166 since I won't be able to keep my RAM at good timings that high. However, 160 fsb with the 4:5 divider will give me all the speed I'll need.

I'm going to up my vrise again (I did it before then brought it down due to temps, since I'm only running on retail cooling right now)
I figure I'll set my vmem to 2.9v and put it at CL2, and settle for the 400mhz DDR.

2800 MHz will be better reachable than with 1.6 (175 FSB vs. 155 FSB)

but you terrified me with bad overclock ability of your chip.

i want also use p4s533 instead of ones with i845D.

whata you think about it ?

Why not get a 1.6a instead? It'll give you a higher fsb with the same top limit.

cuz i think that reaching 2800-3000 limit will be much easier with 1.8A then 1.6A. i have read this thread and except thug, it is hard to move above 175 FSB.

i tought that 18x156 wold be less stresful and easier to achieve than 16x175....

and 1.8 price isnt so much higher....

am i right ?

you are correct - but your also wrong at the same time

the 1.8As are great cpus. the only problem right now is matching with a good board that has memory ratios or itll be worthless.

must ask why all you (90%) are OCing 1.6A ?
i thought that if 1.6A overclock easily somewhere around 2.4GHz (most
of people in this thread reached FSB between 145-155 (exept experts as nighthawk
or THUG

).....

...so i predicted that...

.... 1.8A MUST reach 2.6-2.8GHz (145-155FSB). Higher speeds, lower woltage,
less stress FSB,... etc. So i predicted that 1.8A will be quite expensiver than
1.6A but much better top spead reachable.

if i take it from THUG´s wiew 3GHz must be easy (18*166 FSB).... BUT it ISN´t
or i haven´t read about it yet

... only 2-3 people in this thread uses 1.8A and! they are running at
most at 2.4 - 2.6 MAX....

I have also read that 1.6A are running at 133 in 90%
BUT 1.8A only 50/50 (50%).... WHY ? (are they from other plant or something?)

from my point of wiew - 1.8A is best chip (it is only quite expensiver than 1.6A)
and through decent (not hardcore) overclock - nice speeds must be reachable (2.4-2.8GHz)

chip is the same, technology - the same, cache - the same, core voltage - same (than 1.6)

so whyyyyyyy ????

all of you are talking that you are using PC2700 at P4B266-C

BUT it is i854D chip AND it does not support it ? (only PC1600/2100)

so how it is ?

can i plug there DDR 400 and they wil run only 266 ? and through
FSB OCing i will touch their speed ?

i also have succesfully over clocked a 1.6 on an asus p4b266c to a whopping 2799 by doing TWO things in the bios (thanks to ROOK)....
disable all the usb options in the bios(it is on two boards)
and
disable the plug and play os option
doing one w/o the other "only" got me to 2.5 or so..
amazing but true....
i would love to know what that enable p and p os option does
but w/ it enabled you can not reach your limits.

Now for asus to encorporate a 4/5 mem ratio...
i was praying for 3/4 but at 175 mhz and some newer high speed ddr, we would be on a par w/ rambus!

it would be logical to beef up the memory bus w/ a more subtle 20% of the front side bus , than a 25% of fsb.
if asus is "worried" about "stability"....

i am sure that as -TRUE- high speed ddr becomes main stream, asus will give us this ratio.
i beleive they are even down clocking memory:fsb on certain mobos over a certain fsb speed.This is probably to ensure stability.
what a shame.. that ratio would make this mobo one of the great ones!

1.6@2400 is nothing. With stock cooling I have been at 2500 with no problem, but anything higher locks up the system. I'm getting an alpha soon to see what my chip can do. Id say that most chips have the potential for doing 2800mhz, but its the lack of knowledge of the user to get it up to 2800. Even if they have read this whole post they could have missed a few important things.

When I get my alpha I'll post what the top speed that I have received.

At 2400Mhz Im not getting the killer benchmarks that I was hoping for. I'm around the area of a 1800+ - 2000+ right now. At 2800mhz im expecting for all my benchmarks to be at the 2000+ to 2100+ and beyound range.

hey lizardman...try setting your mem setting to slowest and then up vcore to the highest and up the fsb to the highest also???
make sure you check you PSU for dropping below stability
and temperature of system and cpu
disable usb, os in bios...
and make sure your mem is at least PC2700 and a good one
