I hate waiting....
just want to make this thread's 200th post...

EDIT BTW - I am getting a friend of mine a stick of SAMSUNG PC2700 "original" memory and i will test it out to see if in fact my Mushkin is the limiting case for my system...

I have been playing with overvolt jumper on...my system doesn't seem to be as stable as before...
One thing is true that i get better scores...but Prime95 always find error...can't even last more than 1 hour...
I ran Memtest v2.9 and pass all test...didn't let it loop tho...what else can be the problem? PSU? 420W...waiting to see thugsrook's experiment...CPU does get pretty hot to ~50 C running Prime...gonna try that AC3...and TT 7+ this weekend...
I also got some rounded cables for better air flow...but my damn TI 4400 is blocking most of the flow anyway...
I am gonna break this beast down this weekend...i gotta get to 170FSB...😀

I want 170FSB too, but I'm gonna need more power, as I've said a million times before already 😉

Anyway, I am also having problems with the overvolt jumper as when I enable it I am unable to boot at 1400Mhz at 1.6v, I have to go to like 1.75v to get it to even boot, and even then it's unstable. I think it must be a power thing, or it's just a problem with the jumper as I know someone else that has a 520watt PSU that has reported the jumper being flakey at times.

i got the 550W PSU today.
didnt do what i was hoping for - it did help my 12v line alot. (now rock solid) besides that nothing worth mentioning.

looks like ill be tryin an alpha cooler and the 1.7v wire mod next.

You might beat me in the mhz race, but I got you by a mile in the 3DMark2001 SE!!!
Keep up the good work Thugsrook.

<< OOOOooo - you guys just wait til i get a GF4 4600! :disgust: >>

Hahahahahaha!
I have a TI4400, at over 4600 speeds. I'm running at 320/660. That will be a tough one to beat!
Too bad I have no doubt in my mind that you will oc your vid card like a thief too!😉

yea im waiting for the prices to come down a little - or find a used one cheap.
ive been so busy playing with my CPU that ive kinda ignored my vid card lately.
im only running it at 250x550 right now to ensure stabilty during all this testing.
i should get off my butt and crank it up to its last known stable speed (260x575) and see if its still stable there 🙂

STOP IT!!! it kills me everyday to read that you've uped your fsb by 1 mhz.... i'm just thinking about maxing on my credit card and buying a new system!!!! 😀 😀 😀

heya Dino,
i might take the moboard out tonight - install the Alpha cooler and do the pin mod when putting it all back together.

ill keep you guys updated!

i am running and testing 2800mhz right now.

ive got plenty of voltage left over, and my temps are below 49*C max.

this is awesome.....

question... do you think i'd be better off going with a p4b266-C over the base p4b266 with the lan/audio and such, if i'm gonna be seriously overclocking? I know thugs mentioned that the onboard features may hinder extreme overclocking, but may not also, i was hoping someone could shed me some light on the subject 🙂

btw... sent the p4s333 back to newegg today, some major boot problems, plus the good 'ol lack of pci dividers... unfortunately, newegg is out of stock on the p4b266-c... Anyone have a good retailer they'd recommend for a mobo purchase (don't even say googlegear, fools took 3 weeks to refund me for their "samsung" pc2700 fiasco!)..

Thanks!

Camma

Dino its a 27cfm 21dba Vantec and only spins 2200rpms - nice and quiet 😀

Camma its a crapshoot. it just makes sense that the bare board would have better chances. right now im @ 2800mhz 175fsb - how could i not recommend this board?

hmm.. the wire mod??.. I think my p4s533 already support voltage setting
of 1.8+... so i wont need the wire mod right??..
Just wondering.

Isn't setting voltage this high dangerous??
What is the default voltage setting for highest Ghz available
Intel chip right now?? (2.53Ghz??)
