7900GT Signature or X1900XT?

Ok, I can get an X1900XT for $370 on newegg. For approximately the same amount, I can get an eVGA 7900GT Signature Series graphics card, which I heard has been considerably sped up. Which one would be a better buy?

X1900XT by a mile.

The 7900GT Signature Series is sped up by what, 70 MHZ or something? A 7900GT @ 650/900 barely keeps up with an X1900XT.

The reviews and benchmarks speak for themselves.

The signiture series if you're willing to overclock more. It's at 1.45V and should hit near 700Mhz, which can beat an X1900XT in most games (maybe not oblivion and BF2)

You're kidding if you think 1.45v on the vgpu will hit 700 MHZ. Most people need around 1.5 for that.

1.45v will get you 650, but even then it is still slower.

At 700 on the core, it is about on par. Do you really want to voltmod?

An X19 for 370 is an insane deal, and don't forget you can probably clock that up to about 720/840 giving you a hell of a lot more punch than any 79GT.

For the same price, the X1900XT is better ... the 7900GT volt-modded & overclocked to its limits can barely keep up to the XT at default and XT's overclock pretty well themselves without any modifications.

This isn't even a contest... X1900XT hands down. The only thing that the XT loses to against the the GT is that it's a bit louder in 3D apps.

Uh, my voltmodded 7900GT at 691/900 isn't as fast as a X1900XT

If the X1900XT cost as much as that 7900GT, then go for the X1900XT

how so...so you're saying @691/1800 you're v-mod 7900gt isn't faster than a stock 7900gtx, which in turn is just as fast or faster than a x1900xt

btw...i agree get the x1900xt is the price is similiar

I was comparing it to an overclocked XT since they get to XTX and above speeds fairly easy.

X1900XT.

Sure, the 7900GT might be similar performance, but you can also OC the XT, & then it'll be much better again.

I'd also be a bit concerned about the reliability of those uber-OCed 7900s based on the many issues i've been hearing of...

Both are good though. Only the ATi card will give you HDR + AA however.

Seriously, the 7900GT Signature Series is just bullsh!t at that price when an X1900XT costs the same.

People who doesn't have the 7900GT SS shouldn't make assumptions. I have one and is rated at 1.45V and OCed @ 720mhz/955. I don't want to comment on the x1900xt because I don't have it. But, the SS is a slightly higher clocked 7900GTX in a single slot solution. As of now it is 359.99 and it comes with one game that you may choose. So on the whole the card is around 309-319 without the game.

Why? The 7900GT SS performs like a GTX which is faster than a XT. Not too mention way better support and a really nice cooler.

Can you buy the card without the game?? If not then it's pointless to even say that. It's $360 and you can't spin it any other way.

Alright, fine. I'll take back what I said about the 7900GT SS being bullsh!t...

Someone please order one to find out that it is jacked up and RMA it to support what I said earlier about it being bullsh!t, please. :) (I'm joking, by the way)

Actually, reviews show the X19 series as being the topdog performance wise currently.
