7900GT and 7900GTX hard launch

theoretically....but i'm sure nvidia's not stupid enough to make this mistake again like they did with the 6800 gt and ultra

hahaha....the thing i noticed though is that the cooler on the 7900 gt looks cheap

AND the rams are without any heatsink too! (maybe that's why the gt costs a lot less???)

so, if one's gonna get a decent oc, i think they're gonna HAVE to go for aftermarket cooling

Yeah, the 7900GT has very minimal cooling.
I have this feeling it's going to result in being a loud card, but who knows.

as long as the 7900GT is at 299, and you can put aftermarket coolers on it relatively quickly, im sold on it. maybe even for SLI!

yea...it's true that 75fps and 65fps doesn't make a difference

but it's about minimum framerates....wouldn't it be good to not dip under 50fps or rarely dipping under 50fps?

7900 gtx can be preordered at eastluna.com already

for a whopping $599.99 for all brands except asus

i looked at the evga one and it says that evga.com will have them by 3/14 (not another paper launch =.=")

hopefully, this is just price gougin

I see your point moon but to each his own.. Ive been gaming so long that it doesn't bother me if I get an occasional slowdown in the action (hell it usually helps me aim) jaggies usually dont bother me *much* either, and I really dont use HDR (as it doesnt do enough currently (from my HL2, and FAr Cry experience) to make me feel thats its worth a performance hit).

I went ahead and got another 7800GT CO in anticipation of the new elderscrolls game and hitman bloodmoney. If it wasnt for elderscrolls I probably would have just kept one 7800GT card to play warcrack on.

I don't doubt that many ppl will go and burn some cash on the 7900GTs and thats fine, but I just feel its not worth the extra cash that can be used to get girls drunk.

One more thing i find interesting. I remember about 6 years ago (maybe a few more) that some games would tell me streight up that they will not work with "so and so" videocard and exit. Whens the last time you couldn't *run* a game with your video card? and had to upgrade to just play a game ( I think it was a game in the wing commander series (with speech pack!)? Now people moan becasue they can't run games with all the eye candy on .. hah

man im old.

/sob

//goes to dig around for wing commander II

Edit:

/found it!!

Man sierra made some great games back in the day, back when people making the games loved what they did and put heart and soul into their creations .....

i upgraded from a single gtx to a pair of gt
and boy, what a difference it made on gaming at 1280x1204

i got the chance to up my aa and af with a LOT smoother gameplay, it's especially apparent in cod2 and fear

Really?

I got one on the way soon so im all anxious too.

More than likely the 7900GT's are probably only going ot have 256MB of memory right?

Either way once my tax returns come back in a few days I'm either getting a 1900 or 7900 series card...
