I'm looking to upgrade my video card soon, none of the current DX10 capable cards really interst me, atleast not for the money. I was thinking about picking up a used 7900GS no Ebay or maybe here and running it in SLi. I searched for benchmarks, but didn't find too much. I saw a few, but they didn't benchmark many games. I use a 22" monitor, so I game at 1680 x 1050. Would I see much of a benefit at that res?

I have run my current 7900GS at 550mhz on the core, but sometimes when I'm gaming the PC will just end up rebooting itself. So, now I am running it at the stock 450/1320 speeds. I have plenty of power, but I guess my 7900GS just doesn't like to OC very much. I also have a Zalman cooler on it, the highest I've seen my temps go to are 53C.

Any suggestions? Any experience with a 7900GS SLi?
 
While there are *occasionally* some good deals on low/mid-end SLi/CF depending on where you live, the "upgrade" arguments in favor of low/mid-end SLi tend to fall apart when one looks into the possibility of selling the current card and picking up a single, more powerful card with the extra money.

What are these cards selling for on eBay? You might be able to jump on one of the X1950XT deals that have been popping up lately for well under $200, and this would present a big boost in performance.
 
I thought the x1950 was only a minor upgrade from the 7900GS? If you're patient, you can usually find a 7900GS in the $110 range, I belive.
 
There are two different models of the X1950: the Pro and the XT, which is much faster, and I was talking about the XT.

Assuming I'm reading these charts correctly, the 7900GS SLi beats out the X1900XT by a large margin. Looks like that IS the way to go after all. If you decide to pick up a second 7900GS, be sure let us know what the results are!
