7900gs Failure Again

Mongals

Senior member
A few weeks ago I recieved a replacement for my 7900gs KO from evga and then yesterday it too failed, making a total of 2 cards failing on me. Now I'm trying to figure out what could be killing these cards, besides the possibility that the cards themselves are the culprit. I do have a backup card, which is how I verified that the 7900 was dead.

Anyone have ideas on what could be causing these failures?
Here are my specs:
3600 Brisbane OC 2.85ghz
2gb Crucial Ballistix
Biostar t550se mobo
600w Ultra x-finity psu

1. Could overclocking my cpu have any effect on the video card?

2. I've realized that my case brackets might cause the video card to come loose, because where the video card is screwed into the case the mount is a little high.
- I think that this is most likely my culprit.

LMK if you have any ideas for me.

How did they fail? I had two x800s fail back to back before I realized they were cooking from a combination of my stupid card placement and a loose case fan connection. They would start dropping artifacts then totally fail.

This last time the computer was on suspend and when I clicked my mouse the computer started beeping at me. There was no forewarning, it was working and then it wasn't. I never had artifacts or any other problems.

I could buy another PSU and I have thought about that but hesitate because I don't know if that is the real problem.
