How can the memory on a video card with memory speeds of such run without ramsinks and not get burnt up?

Because your better off having your memory "naked" without a general heatsink on them. Most of the heat from memory chips gets transfered to the PCB anyway so having more of it exposed(with air flowing over it if possible is best).

Exception would be individual seperate ram sinks with air blowing over them AND pcb. But even these help very little as far as getting better memory clocks or much cooler temps.

imagine what you can do WITH some decent cooling on those memory???

on the contrary, if these memory are rated at 1.4ns
then running at 1600 is already pretty much topped out
