I would say $450 ish tops. The 6 series didn't really drop that much in price in its reign (aside from the price gouging).

You'll save a few dollars, but lose months of useability. If you can afford to get it, get it now.

by that time the GTX might be trumped by another card either by nvidia or ATI. i dont think it will fall to 399...it would hurt the 7800GT sales. i would say the price wouldnt drop below 450 unless ATI releases something really competitive.

Are any new cards coming out before Christmas? I'm thinking the GTX is for me as well. But I'll be upgrading at Christmas :)

nVidia might release a new 7XXX part to combat the introduction of R520, but that will probably be in the $600 price range, if it even happens.

My guess is around $450 at e-tailers, since they usually price lower than MSRP, and they'll be naturally low-priced for Christmas.

Don't forget that pricing this holiday season may not be the same as it was in the past. The aftermath of the hurricane may push all pricing up or not as far down as we might expect. I am loking to buy a 7800GT/GTX also. tired of waiting on ATI Crossfire. I guess an 'OPTIMAL' Crossfire set up would require another motherboard also. BTW eVGA was ofering a card/sli-motherboard combo for the price of the card (free MB) it was a Jetway MB which benched just a tad slower than the Fatality-and I mean a tad

The promo was off of the web site when I last looked but www.ZIPZOOMFLY.com still had this for $549.00
