This has probably already been talked about but I didnt find anything on it so thought I would share what I found out.

Was playing F.E.A.R at 1680 x 1050 and I finally got tired of teh shimmering stuff so I decided to use Nvidia's hardware controller instead of F.E.A.R's settings. Turned everything on high left the quality setting on quality(not highest quality). Restarted F.E.A.R and everything ran perfect. No more shimmering although the FPS dropped a little bit according to the test inside of F.E.A.R. Not only 95% is above 40fps

I then tried this out in World of Warcraft where the shimmering is really bad and it to went away!!!

How dare you talk about shimmering! According to the nvidia fanboys such a phenomenon does not exist.

LOL trust me I am a fanboy and trust me they do exist 🙂

uh, what exactly did you do to fix it? Nvidia's hardware controller?

What (i think) he means is that he turned on the IQ and eye-candy in the Nvidia control panel thingy instead of letting the application handle the AA and stuff like that. am i right??

I knew I was right...😀 Just making sure 😉

heh

with my old 6800gt, i used to get something like this. though IQ stayed the same.

4xaa and 8xaf set in the game with drivers set to quality and app preference was slower by about 5-7fps than not setting any aa or af in the game, but instead setting 4xaa and 8xaf in the nvidia drivers.....wierd
