Hi,

I'm having a weird issue with the Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory when I enable HDR, to be exact, Tone Mapping. Without any digressing, I'll let the picture say.

This happens only when I enable "Tone Mapping" under Advanced Option tab in the game. I first thought it's my GTX, but it turned out to be not. (I tried a different GTX, only to have the same result) I of course tried different drivers (77.77/81.84), and different game patches. (1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 1.04) Basically with all the same result.

Of interest is that *once in a blue moon* I get correct pictures. Like 1 out of 10 times I get the right images. I also tried various in-game settings, but the result is consistent. Below are my system specs.

Athlon64 X2 4800+
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
BFG Geforce 7800GTX
OCZ Titanium 1Gx2
Western Digital Raptor 74Gx2

Could someone please help me? I can't even tell if it's a hardware issue or a software issue. Before I setup this system I used P4 with 6800GT and didn't have this problem. It's making me crazy because I like this game alot and I spent much time/energy (not to mention pretty pennies) for this machine.

Any input would be appreciated.

EDIT: No overclocking on the video card as yet.

McArra I appreciate your input. As a matter of fact, when I got the new GTX, I tried fresh install of chipset (6.65, 6.66), fresh install of the video card (above), and of course fresh install of Windows. Nothing helped so far.

Anyone knows what this problem is even called? Does this happen in other games also? Under which condition?

HELP!

you could try this, go into the folder where splinter cell is installed and changed the name of the .exe file that you click to start the game to something else like (SC:CS) i had a problem with HDR in farcry and that fix it for me. hope it works

I don't know. I've never heard of any such problem before, but it seems that Far Cry is also having HDR issues in the latest patch. Renaming the exe as suggested above is definitely worth a try in case the default application profile is doing something funny.
