Ah yes ,that was their advantage
But its bloody expensive at ~£233!:Q ,I settled with a 2nd hand XT800XT PE for £92![]()

that x800XTPE is almost as fast as a 7800GS AGP. they really shafted the AGP version, so be glad you saved $$
Actually, the X800XTPE outperforms the 7800GS in most benchmarks, and sometimes is able to sniff the heels of the 7800GT, look here http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics....elx=33&model1=575&model2=527&chart=211
Here too: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2686&p=1, Even though they use the X850XT PE, it is barely faster than the X800XT PE, cause even though the X800XT PE runs 20MHz lower on core speed and 60MHz lower on memory speed, the RAM timings are more tight, that's why sometimes, some latency sensitive games may run a bit faster on the X800XT PE, but anyways, the X850XT PE is 5% faster at most. In the Anandtech article, at the end of the article, they state the following:
With the Radeon X850 XTPE holding the top spot on AGP hardware up until now, NVIDIA hasn't had a solid high performance AGP showing since the power hungry 6800 Ultra. With prices on the aging, high-end 6 series parts absurdly high, it is quite nice to see an AGP 7 series part show up with good performance, lower power requirements, better features and a friendlier price tag, at about $300. Even though the X850 XTPE is generally faster than the new NVIDIA part, the price tag is a little steeper as well, at about $400. This leaves ATI holding onto a claim for the fastest AGP solution out there, but the feature set of the 7 series part is a bit more refined than that of the venerable X850.

I think you might have to have a look at those benchmarks again....the 7800GS+ is still way ahead of the X800XT and the 7800GT.

E.g. playing F.E.A.R on my previous card I had no AA and mostly medium details, FPS was fairly smooth whereas with my new card FPS is almost always >30FPS with 2xAA and everything on high.
I went with the overpriced 7800GS+ because it's going to be my last (really!) upgrade for my AGP system. Really. Last upgrade!
