Good deal for those who have AGP and something less than a 6800 GT. On benchmarks, the 7800GS is about 15-20% faster than a 6800GT, but if you have an overclocked 6800GS/GT/ or Ultra, it really is not worth upgrading.

I second that.

My EVGA 7800 GS OC's to around 505 mhz core, 1.4 ghz memory (from 460 and 1.35 respectively) so u guys should be able to OC quite a bit from the 400 and 1250 stock speed.

dont some of these have real screamer fans?
the gainwards golden samples have 2 slot quiet fan system (but at $500+)
anyone advise as to noise?

hmm.. would a 380W powersupply be able to handle this card? One of the reviews says you need 400W PS with 22 amps on the +12 v rail, and it appears mine only supplies 18... :/

7600gt vs this ? i simply can't decide, and a month ago I jumped on the 3400+ S754 combo so I know I'm at a dead end insofar as upgrades are concerned and whle I would NEVER have paid more than 60 dollars for a card i'm willing to make an exception simply because i know I won't be able to find these in the future. the 7600GT is already getting very difficult to find, and I'm not interested in seeing the same thing repeat for this situation

well get the card and see...😉 Some PSUs can't push anything when they are OVER the reccomended rating, and some have no problem 🙂

I'm running one is a Shuttle with less than a 300W PSU.

depend's what psu it is. A 380w seasonic will, but a 380w generic "came with the case" psu will most likely not.
On the card, if the x1950 pro comes out in an agp flavor it will be hard to beat for the planned $200 price tag. It'll be sold out in a day.

Yeah some Newegg sales only last 48 hours. I update my original post.....

It WAS a good deal. Still not bad...but no longer hot.

Any idea how this compares to the X850pro that was linked to earlier in this thread? I need to put some life into my old AGP system, which is used mainly for WoW and occasionally other games, but I think this card would be overkill.

The GS is a tad faster and it has Purevideo, hdr + SM3.0

In other words..... It's all sorts of better.
