LOL, if they are so spot on, why do they have (900) 1600 for the ram speed?
I gues it will be either 800 or 900MHz GDDR3 (1600/1800) -ish.

I noticed that right away, heh...

I'm placing my bet on 550/1800.

I'm betting thats its 560/1600 as this was the numbers shown in the guru3d site. However it looks like the ram can be OCed 1800mhz and above :D, hence the (900)1600.

Be my guest. :)
Now, let's compare how much of a performance increase over a GTX a pair of GTs get:

BF2 2048x1536 4X AA - 68%

D3 2048x1536 4X AA - 32%

EQII 1920x1200 4X AA - 51%

HL2 2048x1536 No AA - -9%

SC:CT 2048x1536 No AA - -9%
SC:CT 1600x1200 4X AA - -3%

KOTR 1600x1200 4X AA - 2%

Wow...look at that. I'm still looking for your 60-70% increase, based on Anandtech's own numbers. I see 1 situation where it breaks 60%, and another that breaks 50%.

It would seem that my 80% estimate was generous, wouldn't you say? I've bolded the negative % scenarios.
I just took the highest resolutions from your set of numbers, with the exception of HL2 & surprisingly SC:CT, all are significant boosts which even an oc'ed GTX might find difficult to match.

I'll present more scenarios where a stock GTX is 60-70% or more slower than a couple of GTs:

Examples:
http://techreport.com/reviews/2005q4/radeon-x1000/farcry-pier-1600.gif
http://techreport.com/reviews/2005q4/radeon-x1000/doom3-demo2-1600.gif

http://techreport.com/reviews/2005q4/radeon-x1000/sc3-penthouse-hdr-1600.gif

If I remember correctly, with the 7800GTX Nvidia essentially provided a performance of two pair of 6800GTs in SLI. You are insinuating that they will provide the same kind of jump within the same generation. :D I just dont think that will be the case.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Nvidia seems to like to give their AIB partners room to OC and play with the settings. Their ref. card are "underclocked" so to speak. This way the AIB partner can sell OC'd cards with a premium and make some extra profit. This keep their partners VERY happy and loyal to nvidia. Then consumers get a wide array of various speeds from different partners which keeps the nvidia cards in the forefront all the time due to one review after another of basically the same card! It's just smart business and free marketing.

So, you're going to take Anandtech's own benchmarks and throw them out the window, where in 3 of 7 scenarios, there's a decent increase, and in the other 4, there's actually a NEGATIVE percentage? That's just being blind.

I didnt "throw them out of the window", I simply took the highest resolutions from your set of numbers.

You didnt respond to this:

When the 512MB GTX is released you can quote me and I will quote you on this topic, fair enough?

Insane indeed. Very.

Whoah!

Gonna take a stab and say, if Asus gets this running well, and it must be through software because there is no brigde, look for 20,000+ in 3DMark 05.
That is just insane. Just look at the sheer real estate these monsters take up. Each one is about 1/2 the size of the entire motherboard. Maybe larger. But oh my goodness, quad SLI.

They are as long as the freaking board, and that is some serious cooling on the cards! Also, they're taller than Shaq!

But still, I'd love to see that in action. They seem to only require a single 6-pin ATX power plug on them, which is damn impressive!

3dmark scores would be sick; more importantly can you imagine gaming on that thiing!? SLI-AA would truly have a home!

I thought each of these cards required a power brick externally PLUS the 6 pin power plugs.

It's absolutely hysterical how some people will take small tidbits as the absolute in information without even considering the data, or using some common sense when evaluating.

This is why some of you aren't in the industry, and why you'd be laughed out if you tried. Those of us in it thank you.

Keep trying, folks. ;)

I'm assuming that you are referring to me. ;) As much as you tried to conceal that under-the-belt insult, I'm willing to ignore it. :D

You still didnt respond to this:

Since Ronin insulted me also, if he works in the industry, he must be a janitor at Nvidia or something b/c I did a quick google search and found a number of articles that prove him wrong again. The only thing he's shown is a simple mathematical equation and unfortunately, theoretical doesn't hold water against real life tests and examples such as:

Guru3d's GeForce 7800 GT Triple (SLI) Round Up

Gameprye's EVGA 7800GT SLI

Bjorn3d.com's XFX 7800GT SLI Review

SiliconFactor's XFX 7800GT SLI Review - this article shows that even 6800GT SLI outperforms a single 7800GTX

Xbit's ASUS Extreme N7800GT/2DHTV in SLI: Two Is Better Than One

I'll stop here but there are many more articles that show the same thing. Can someone provide something other than a simple math formula that shows a 7800GTX outperforming 7800GT SLI?

Note - these are just the first five articles found when doing a google search on "7800GT SLI"

If I had to take a guess as to how nvidia managed to increase core clock speeds to 550mhz + I'd say it's from a increase in the vcore. This new 512MB GTX (if these specs are correct) has the vcore set to 1.45V instead of 1.4V like the regular GTX. I don't know if anyone has caught this yet but I'm guessing it helped out a bunch. Most GTX's will do 550mhz + with 1.45 or 1.46V(hard vmod) and some 600mhz + @ 1.5V/1.6V. A .05V or .1V increase to the vcore wouldn't be good for any single slot cooling solution but I'm sure that dual slot Quadro looking cooler handles a .05V increase just fine. I might be wrong though...who knows.

CPlusPlusGeek...I've seen a lot of posts by you saying you're going to use the step-up program to get this card. Little excited are we? LOL...sounds like you're looking forward to it's launch as much as I am...I'll be waiting early Monday morning to get my hands on 2 of these bad boys. :D

I already posted my evaluation, in plain print, based on Anandtech's own information. If you wish to refute THAT, take it up with Anand, not me.

Take your spam elsewhere. Try reading a little closer to home before making a fool of yourself.

Based on the below, looks like 7800GT SLI own a single 7800GTX:
SLI Tests

The X1800XT only outperformed the five month old, lowest possible clocked 7800GTX. (that costs $150+ less than a X1800XT, is quieter, cooler, uses less power)

It's hard to say how the X1800XT will fare against it's true competitor- you know- the one reputedly arriving next week with comparable cost, much higher fillrate and RAM speed, same amount of RAM and quieter? ;)

You're daft, aren't you...

Anand's result show a better than 50% ratio where the GTX outperformed the GTs in SLi. My results were very clear. 2 GTs are NOT always better than 1 GTX, and in better than 50%, they aren't. How difficult is that to follow?
