No, especially when you have the option of upgrading to SLI 7800GTXs when they drop in price (to like 200) not to mention the added power and heat usage of SLI 6800GTs (a single GTX uses less power and runs cooler than a single 6800GT).
Nah, its not worth it, the performance is similar too.

It's not totally off the wall DP, I could make a case for the GTs:
1. Higher minimum fps
2. Higher fps at games that could use some framerate, like FEAR
3. Comparable performance on many new games
4. $100 in pocket
5. If he has a LCD that is limited to 16X10, the high res tweaks of the 7800GTX irrelevant
I'm not going into the case I'd make for the 7800GTX, but those two rigs are pretty comparable in terms of gaming performance. Teh SLI is the stuff!![]()

The prob with that is that by the time the gtx's drop the next gen will be out & you'll be in the same predicament. The gt's haven't hit 200 yet & are aparently being faised out so they may never. Seems to me if you're going to do the 1 now sli later thing do it in 6 months or less or forget it. I would stick with the 7800 as well.
